Young girl left in tears after Hillary Clinton lost the election has penned a touching open letter to the former candidate.

Kaia James, 10, the first kid columnist for Girls World Magazine, woke up this morning in tears at her Orlando, Florida, home.

‘She cried for an hour and I let her collect herself before sending her to school a little late,’ her mother Sabrina James tells Daily Mail Online.

‘When I picked her up, she watched Hillary’s concession speech and wanted her to know that she was still her inspiration and that she would never stop wearing her Hillary shirt even though she didn’t win. She considers Hillary to be her hero.’

To get the message to Hillary, Kaia decided to pen an open letter, which was then published on YourTango.

‘Dear Hillary Clinton,’ she begins. ‘Thank you for standing up for me and for all women and girls.

“You have clearly shown that girls can be anything and do anything. You have proven to me that men are not stronger than women. Thank you for showing me the way.”

‘I think it’s awesome that when you were my age, you wanted to become an astronaut when you grew up — I do, too!’ she writes. ‘And even when NASA said that girls couldn’t be astronauts, you worked harder and harder and never gave up.

‘Even though you never became an astronaut, you did so many incredible things.’

Her favourite Hillary quotes are being her ‘stronger together’ slogan and ‘justice for all’ because that includes ‘the gay and lesbian people, and the brown and white people, and the people not born here in America’.

Kaia ends the letter by declaring to Hillary that she ‘will finish what you started’ and change her dream from being an astronaut to becoming a world leader.

‘You have fought for us and now it is our turn to fight for you,’ she says, insisting that ‘it’s not over yet.’

A message from Hillary’s powerful and emotional concession speech included, “And to all the women, and especially the young women, who put their faith in this campaign and in me: I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion.

Now, I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling, but someday someone will – and hopefully sooner than we might think right now. ”

And to all of the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.

  • There has been one female astronaut who sadly passed away when the spacecraft re-entered earth and it exploded.
