There really is no ‘perfect’ time for mums to take a break. With work, family and personal commitments all fighting for your time and energy, the thought of planning a holiday can seem impossible.

However, for the sake of your health and wellbeing, it’s important to make time for a break every now and then. A quick getaway or mini holiday may be just what you need to recharge from your day to day chaos and to alleviate any stress you may have.

Here are 3 holiday ideas for mums who need a break:

1) Go grape-sipping at a winery

Visit a wine region for the ultimate indulgence. Think good quality wines, cheese boards, fresh air and a cosy bed and breakfast with your nearest and dearest. Leave the car at your accommodation and travel from cellar to cellar by bike or join a tour so you don’t have to worry about the two wine limit. Cellar doors usually offer great deals on cases of wine so you can take home a slice of your getaway to enjoy back at home. The top wine regions in Australia are South Australia, Margaret River near Perth, NSW Hunter region, Tasmania and Mornington Peninsula in Victoria.

2) Dive into a tropical paradise

Round up your girlfriends for a truly relaxing getaway to a tropical paradise like Bali. You get the best of both worlds in Bali, balancing your stay with doing absolutely nothing at all, to exploring fun adventures at every corner. Think luxurious day spas, bike tours through rice paddy fields, cocktails by the pool and fantastic bars and restaurants in the bustling towns. Imagine having your own Villa instead of staying in a hotel with kids cramping the pool space! Save money on your getaway by looking into travel and accommodation deals to score great bargains.

3) Cruise your way to relaxation

If you’re looking for a holiday that’s jam packed with activities but requires minimal effort in planning from your end, consider booking a cruise tour. Decide on the location and then shop around online for travel package deals to get the best bang for your buck. The great thing about cruises is you’ll never be bored. In addition to visiting amazing sites, you’re also within quick access to a menu of entertainment activities and fun on the cruise itself. Think buffets, shows, pool-side activities and other entertainment options.

Everyone needs a break at some point and mums aren’t exempt from this. A quick holiday getaway can make a huge difference to how you feel afterwards.

  • wow, I would imagine most mums on this sight wouldn’t have the luxury of planning a holiday like any of these. Seriously, hubby has to get time off work which then means less money, then petrol and spending money. Not realistic.

  • As lovely as it sounds I really don’t think I could go on a holiday or trip without my husband, we hardly go away altogether as it is, so I think if we had the time and money I would much rather spend it on a trip for the family! :-)

  • I don’t need much. A weekend away at a day spa or a relaxed yoga retreat would do it for me. Somewhere near the beach, or peaceful where I can just relax, read, sleep in. That’s all I need once in a blue moon to refresh.

  • No, I don’t feel really the desire to breakaway for a day or weekend from my family. I’m happy when I can catch up with one of my friends for a cuppa/glass during the week at school hours or in the afternoon together with our kids.

  • We like doing a girls weekend away – but not too much driving. We all have a meal to prepare for and surprise the others with, and of course there is lots of bubbles, and laughter.

  • Holiday, mm what is that I haven’t had a holiday since I lived with my parents. The last time was when I was 11 which was 30 years ago before my children. Love to actually have one.
