The kitchen is always getting dirty, and it can be a real pain to keep it looking good on a consistent basis. Here are 4 tips to keep it looking cleaner for longer.

1. Keep the sink clean

Keeping the sink clean is imperative in maintaing a clean kitchen. It only takes 2 minutes to clean the sink after the dishes are done. By cleaning the sink everyday, you prevent the buildup of soap scum and other scales. This means that when you come to do your big clean, it will only take a few minutes rather than an hour!

2. Soak odds and end before dishwashing them

Brushes and combs, burner grids and knobs, dish racks, toothbrushes etc. will clean much deeper if you fist soak them in hot water and then dish wash them. This means that you don’t have to hand wash these odds pieces, or put them in the dish washer twice.

3. Keep the Stove top clean!

A dirty stove top can lead to some serious problems down the track. If oils, fats, sauces and other sticky messes all get stuck and crusted onto a stove top, then you will have a much more difficult time cleaning it later on. This is because everything will crust over and you’ll  have to go searching for that apparently existing screw driver. So after you fry up something tasty, wipe down all areas of the stove top so that you don’t have to spend a couple of hours chiseling, soaking and repeating.

4. Vacuum and mop the floor every third day

A quick vacuum-mop combo of the floor can really make your kitchen look good. With the amount of food preparation, there is  large amounts of food bits that fall on the floor and make your kitchen look more messy than it really is. So keep your kitchen floor clean more often in order to impress surprise guests!

There you have it, a few quick and easy ways to keep your kitchen tidier for longer, share some tips and tricks that you use to keep your kitchen looking great!

  • I go along with all you say and the first 3 are very easy for me to do. The wash/vac floor is a huge problem for me as I have slate tiles with a finger tip deep groove around each one – still haven’t found a reliable machine to suck up the water and dirt in the grooves. And these days I am beyond getting down on to my hands and knees to wipe it up with a towel.
