  • There is a new free adventure playground at Glenelg opened only a few months ago. The tram and buses to to Glenelg. If you are hiring a car there is various places in the Adelaide Hills – there maybe some public transport. Gumeracha has the giant rocking horse which you can climb up to the top and see spectacular scenery of the surrounding area. As far as I know that is free. I haven’t been up there for a few years. There was a small animal sanctuary next to it. There wasn’t anybody at the gate so I think that is free too. If you hire a car, on the outskirts of Williamstown in the Barossa Valley is the Whispering Wall Reservoir. There is only one other – in Europe. People can next to wall on one side of the reservoir and others walk across to the other side – it is completely fenced and stand next to the wall the other side and talk. You can hold a conversation. I don’t know if the gates are open every day I don’t think it would be open on high fire danger days. There is a cafe on the right hand side of the road part way to the actual reservoir.

  • We are going a few days to Adelaide this Christmas and it has been over 20 years since we last been over there. I hope there are a few free things there when we go but I seriously doubt it being the holiday seasons as I find businesses will do anything to make as much money as possible as soon as there is a “holiday ” coming especially when you have no choice but to book accommodation and airfare to get over there. Hopefully there will be some freebies anyway .

  • I just went to Adelaide once and yes, the Migration Museum was indeed very interesting. And the Botanical Gardens! I loved the Adelaide Gaol too.
I think our favourite was the Ayers Historic House! We really enjoyed the tour and learned a lot about the history of Adelaide. I would really recommend it.
