Has all this talk of the budget and the looming end of the financial year got you thinking about how nice it would be to earn a little extra cash!

Well, if you’re a stay-at-home Mum, a student or just have some spare time, you and your computer could open up a range of ways to top up your bank account with extra spending or saving money.

Here are some ways you can put some extra cash in your pocket:

User testing

Companies are often looking for everyday people to test their websites for usability.

All you have to do is sign-up to a company which arranges testing, give your honest feedback about a product/site either at home or on-site and you’ll be rewarded for your input.

Data entry

Freelancer.com.au has a range of jobs listed for fairly basic data entry/research tasks with set amounts for each. It may not be the most thrilling work but if you’re a computer whiz and are happy to work from a written brief, it could result in quick and easy cash.

Surveys

Again, this is one that doesn’t require any skill but rather pays for your opinion on various topics and products – from washing powder to holiday destinations. Not all of these companies pay in cash, some reward users with points which can be redeemed for store gift cards or prize draws, so it’s worth researching this in advance. If you’d like to increase your earning power, you could earn up to $120 for in-person discussion groups.

Tutoring

Do you have teaching experience that could be put to good use? These days you can join an online tutoring portal where you give one-to-one tutoring and get paid securely via the website.

These roles are in high demand so you’d be wise to polish up your CV.

Writing/editing

If you have an eye for grammar and detail or have experience as a copywriter, there are a plethora of freelance opportunities out there across various industries. The beauty of this is you can often set your price and deadline. Proofreading is a category in itself if you’d rather not create the copy from scratch.

Airtasker.com.au

This website sees people upload various odd-jobs on and others ‘bid’ to complete them at a set price.

The beauty of Airtasker is that you could harness your most unique in-demand skill – like marketing or doing someone’s tax – or bid on more simple jobs like cleaning someone’s garage or delivering a gift. You have the flexibility to choose your tasks so you can only do tasks online if you’d prefer.
