There is welcome relief heading to many Australian bank accounts this week, a $750 payment for economic support will be arriving, though it’s not going to every person who received the initial payment back in March.

The Australian Government has announced that there are some slight changes to who will be receiving the July $750 payment and not everyone is happy.

The first round of payments were issued to those under the following:

  • ABSTUDY Living Allowance
  • Age Pension
  • Austudy
  • Bereavement Allowance
  • Carer Allowance
  • Carer Payment
  • Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
  • Disability Support Pension
  • Double Orphan Pension
  • Family Tax Benefit Part A
  • Family Tax Benefit Part B
  • Farm Household Allowance
  • JobSeeker Payment
  • Newstart Allowance
  • Parenting Payment
  • Partner Allowance
  • Pensioner Concession Card
  • Sickness Allowance
  • Special Benefit
  • Widow Allowance
  • Widow B Pension
  • Wife Pension
  • Youth Allowance.

Whilst the second $750 payment is only available to the following groups and not all within those groups will be entitled to it:

  • Age Pension
  • Bereavement Allowance
  • Carer Allowance
  • Carer Payment
  • Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
  • Disability Support Pension
  • Double Orphan Pension
  • Family Tax Benefit A
  • Family Tax Benefit B
  • Pensioner Concession Card.

Anyone who is not on the list for round two of economic support payment could potentially receive the Coronavirus Supplement.

The payments come as tough lockdown laws have been put back into place, pushing many more Australians out of a job and placing enormous pressure on businesses, especially those in Victoria. Though the payment is expected to be rolled out to over 5 million Australians.

The National Cabinet next meet on July 24th, the day after the Treasurer, Josh Frydenberg releases his Economic Statement. From there, Australians will learn more about any further Coronavirus economic support past what has already been guarenteed.

  • I’m glad the government is supporting people, but a lot of people also need supporting too from this virus

  • I can’t work due to back injury, not entitled to job-seeker or invalid pension, I’m a widow with and adult son who can’t get any work so I won’t be entitled to anything. Just hope the one’s who do get the $750 payment really need it for food or to help with bills.

  • I’m concerned at the amount of money being given to those that don’t need it, whilst my son for example does not qualify for anything. He is 19, out of work, lives at home and doesn’t qualify for Job Seeker or Job Keeper as he left his casual job just prior to us moving house. We have to cover his expenses for petrol, food, car rego, etc. Bills he still has regardless. It’s really frustrating as he is trying to live as an adult, had some savings, but apparently because my hubby and I earn too much (funny as we’re not during Covid), he doesn’t qualify for anything. He wants to work, but can’t get a job having applied for more than 50 advertised jobs. Sooo frustrating. Whilst so many casuals are back working and receiving the JobKeeper payment – which is far more than what they would earn with normal shifts. And then there’s his Nan on a pension who doesn’t need the payments as she’s not going out or doing anything.

  • It will certainly come in handy just to buy the necessary food as all prices have gone up lately.

  • We very thankfully received the first payment. We lost our sole income for a month and my casual/contract work is not able to open at the moment. We always buy local when we can and endeavour to support our local community and Australian industries.

  • I’m pleased that the Government is trying to help people where they can … however, I am not entitled to any of the payments, yet I am unemployed …. I am trying to find work but it is virtually impossible in this climate and I can’t claim any benefits ….

  • I am sure this payment will help many people doing it very tough at the moment. Let’s hope it help our economy too.

  • This will be a welcome relief to most people but it still urks me that there are some who don’t use it as intended. Unless the intention is that people just spend on whatever to help all businesses.
