Luckily this wasn’t a huge thing when my kids went to Primary school. The focus was more on the books and creating awareness of books rather than who’s got the most elaborate costume. The pressure is really on these days for parents and they shouldn’t feel they need to buy something expensive. I remember the kids were allowed to dress as their favourite character and it didn’t have to be from a book. I dressed my son as Bob the Builder and daughter as Bindi Irwin. It never cost me a cent, I just used dress up stuff they already had and they looked so cute.
