Hello!

It all started with a simple question…and exploded into a hilarious conversation that had us in giggles. A mum innocently asked whether Aldi stocked certain intimate products and the reactions were hilarious.

The most controversial conversation on the Aldi mums facebook group is usually about stinky chicken. But one shopper spiced up the discussion by asking whether the discount supermarket stocked intimate products such as contraception and sexual health items.

“Does Aldi sell lube?” was certainly the conversation starter of the century.

Many members were shocked that the woman had posted the question, being that it is pretty far removed from the regular “what’s the best Aldi ice-cream to buy?”

Others were laughing out loud at the unusual enquiry.

“This is hilarious,” one person commented.

“Is this for real?” asked another.

Asking For A Friend

The original poster confirmed that the question was authentic but then claimed that she was ‘asking for a friend’. Hmmm…yeah right. We all know what that means.

Some more creative Aldi shoppers suggested some substitute products.

“Yes…if you’re imaginative,” one person replied.

“They sell vaso,” another said.

Substitutes

Others said that the discounted coconut oil, extra ‘virgin’ olive oil or perhaps ‘vagtable oil’ could possibly be used as a substitute for true intimate products.

In more tongue-in-cheek comments, some shoppers suggested buying a block of butter or even some yoghurt or cream for some lubrication.

“Nutella is good, snack for after too,” giggled one commenter.

Left High And Dry

But the winning comment has to go to this one:

“Probably a good thing they don’t sell it. You’ll get used to it for a couple of months and then they’ll discontinue it and you’ll be as dry as a vulture’s armpit!”

Warning!

Of course, none of these suggestions would actually be effective intimate products. Oil-based lubricants (such as petroleum jelly) can actually weaken condoms, which would make them less effective.

Water-based lubricants are the preferred option and while lube may not be readily available at Aldi, you can easily purchase these at Coles or Woolies.

Clearly, the poster needs to do her shopping in Target in the US. We recently reported that the chain stocks a whole range of intimate products, including vibrators.

Would you buy intimate products at Aldi? Should they be adding these to their shelves? Tell us in the comments below.

  • I had no idea that they dont sell this.

  • Actually surprised that they don’t sell this sort of stuff.
It is a bit of a strange question to ask though lol. You’d think to just go to the chemist or something.

  • Maybe they would get more customers if they sold this stuff!

  • Maybe they’ll do a range for their middle aisle :)

  • Not sure about this.

  • They are always running out of stock so I think it would be better if they just got more of what they normally sell and not go into anything more. I’d prefer to buy this sort of product more from a chemist. Maybe she just wanted to shake the company up a bit for some tongue in cheek fun.

  • Aldi sells everything else (from time to time) so why not those items too? I definitely wouldn’t be asking on their Facebook page, but I do wonder if she got a yes or no answer?

  • Doubt I would ask on Facebook about anything that Aldi may or may not sell. Attention seeking

  • These are available at other supermarkets and chemists. I don’t think Aldi should add them to their shelves when there are a lot of other products they don’t sell either.

  • You can buy these at Coles and Woolies, so why not Aldi?

    Reply

  • I can understand her asking. Other supermarkets do. I’ve noticed them in the aisle with the bath wash, toothpaste, etc. Why the outrage?

    Reply

  • Maybe she should try the chemist.

    Reply

  • Probably not. I hate buying imitate items out at a checkout. I go towards self serve instead. No awkward looks.

I couldnt stop laughing at the comment’s

  • Why would you ask this online? Why not just pop into a store and see for yourself.

    • Yes, sounds she was out on some attention
