PARENTS are being warned about hundreds of potentially toxic Frozen toys which have been seized by authorities in the UK.

The merchandise was found to have contained deadly chemicals, The Sun reports.

Trading Standards said they had seized hundreds of the potentially deadly dolls and highly flammable dresses.

Authorities are still investigating the issue but they released a warning to parents highlighting the dangers of buying counterfeit goods.

Trading Standards said the dolls contained high levels of plastic softening chemicals called phthalates which can lead to reproductive damage, increased risk of cancer and asthma.

“We are concerned children could be playing with these potentially dangerous dolls or wearing costumes which are highly flammable,” says Councillor Roger Croad, Devon County Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for the Trading Standards service.

“We’re asking people to exercise caution when buying Frozen merchandise, and to look out for some of the tell-tale signs that could indicate a product is counterfeit; such as missing Disney logos on the labelling, a suspiciously low price, poor quality and labels that appear to have been poorly copied.”

Last year, parents were warned about fake Frozen children’s snap bracelets which could cut children’s wrists.

While we do understand this recall is based in the UK, given how easily it is to purchase from EBAY and other online sites it is well worth remembering to always check your product closely.

  • This is very concerning indeed!
If someone is selling fake goods online and it harms a child is the seller held responsible for not meeting safety standards?

I’ve seen the dolls at our local 2 dollar shop and they don’t look quite right, can’t be sure if they are the same ones!
I’m always on the lookout for a bargain and do a bit of eBay shopping too, this is a very timely reminder for my self indeed!!

  • There is a big profit margin in the price of toys so they are sometimes discounted legitimately in department stores and also toy shops. Good quality toys are expensive but some brands seem to last for ages. I have one toy here that was given to my niece 32 years ago. It still looks as new. It is a Chicco brand one. Fisher Price ones are excellent and last years too.

  • I have been disgusted by the poor quality of cheap toys – simply not worth the money. I hope that people do return these knock off products. Such products detract from the wonderful toys and dress ups that are available.
