The perfect finishing touch for any bunny costume.

Material

  • Wool (any colour)
  • 2 pieces of Cardboard
  • 1 pair of Scissors
  • 1 Safety Pin

Method

  1. Create two donut-shaped rings using the cardboard. Place one ring on top of the other and tie an end of the wool onto them.
  2. Start wrapping the wool around the ring, slipping it through the centre each time, until it looks pretty full.
  3. Once the doughnut is full, slip the scissors between the two pieces of cardboard and cut all the way around.
  4. Place another piece of wool inbetween the cardboard two cardboard rings, wrap around and tie off tightly. The cardboard can now be removed.
  5. Insert the safety pin into the centre of the pom pom, and secure.

Notes

To make the wrapping process easier, cut a slit into the cardboard rings.

  • We used to make these years ago when I was a child, as an easy and cheap toy for the cat, and also to hang on the Christmas tree as decorations. With a little bit of help from adults, these are a fun thing for little kids to make.

  • Gosh, how did I forget pom-poms as a craft idea for my grand kids. A great craft that they can do for as long as they like and come back to anytime they like. Nice and quiet when they need a relaxing activity after an energetic play, or…. While waiting for dinner to be ready.

    • Making pop poms is indeed a relaxing activity.
