Don’t throw your old sofa, instead give it a new look with the help of new bed sheets/ quilt covers. These DIY sofa covers are so easy to make – no sewing required!

Material

  • 3 Quilt covers/Bedsheets Cotton, Silk

Method

  1. Measure all the sides of your old sofa and cut the Quilt cover/bed sheet according to it. keep an inch extra cloth before cutting.
  2. Put the new cut cloth pieces on your sofa and glue it using hot glue.
  3. Glue the new cloth on all the sides of the sofa and then staple all the joints with upholstery stapler for a strong finish.

Notes

I change my 5 seater old sofa with the help of 3 quilt covers I bought from BIGW at 9$ each
1 upholstery stapler from Bunnings ware house at 18$
Glue gun I already had at home I just bought a pack of 25 glue sticks from BIG W at 3$

  • I love that this is like a minimal waste sort of project but I hesitate to use a glue gun on a sofa. I wonder if there is a sewing option?

  • I did recover my lounge setting some years ago, oh the memories. Working full time, decided to strip and recover a 3 seater and 2 single chairs. End result was fantastic, but gee, I love your idea. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • What a great and cheap way to protect my sofa. I have a 2.8yrs old toddler who sometimes spill her drinks on the sofa leaving nasty stains. This project can help me cover those stains without spending a fortune.

  • This is a great idea. My kids have made a real mess of our couch, who knew water could stain so badly. I might look into doing something like this, would be way cheaper than a new couch.
