My dad told me about his mums recipe


Material

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 3/4 cup salt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • few drops until your happy of essential oils
  • 1 cup water

Method

  1. Put the salt in a saucepan and add the water stir over heat until salt has dissolved. Allow to cool completely and then add oil, cream of tartar, food colouring (optional), essential oil( optional) and flour mixing until combined.

    Then place on a floured surface and knead until firm.

Notes

This is super fun and not at all expensive.

  • I’ve never made play dough before but this looks really easy. I really like the idea of adding essential oils too. So good for sensory play! I think this might be how me and my little babe spend our Sunday. Thanks x

  • Its perfect for rainy day or when os very hot outside. I am keeping mine in a fridge ( in plastic container). Last one last for over month. My 2yo loved to play with it.

  • Home made Play doh was a staple when my kids were growing up. I’ve also found a shaving cream recipe on MoMs I’m looking forward to trying and comparing to this old favorite

  • If anybody at all in your house has Coelic Disease or wheat allergy you just change the flour to Gluten Free Flour. Children often lick their fingers when playing. At only takes a tiny bit to make anybody with either medical problem to get very ill.
