This is a great idea for children ages 5 and up. My 10 year old daughter (stepdaughter) started this and when we go somewhere we always get leaves for her.

Material

  • 1 Book
  • 1 Pen or pencil
  • Lots Lots of leaves
  • 5 Long sheets of baking paper to trace
  • 3 Lots of glue and sticky tape

Method

  1. Collect leaves from everywhere you go.
  2. Trace and draw your leaves.
  3. Stick or glue (or both) in your book.
  4. Write a bit about the leaves and where you got them from.

My name is Rebecca and I am a mum of 6 they range from 21 down to 10. I love cooking and enjoy cooking with my girls sometimes when my boys like cooking ( they used to anyway). Iam lactose in tolerant and gluten intolerant as well as diabetic so recipes are hard to find that aren't so powdery and taste bland, currently I am studying certificate 2 in Retail Services then I am going on to do certificate 3 in Business.

  • Oh wow, I’ve never thought about doing something like this. Thanks for sharing!

  • I used to do a similar project as a child. I’d plant a seed, stick one in a book, and then as the shoots started to grow I’d draw the plant in my book. A step by step journal of my plants’ growth.

  • My daughter used to have a scrap book with dried flowers and leaves in it from places we visited. Her write ups weren’t so educational, more about memories, she would write where it came from and what we had been doing there. It was good to look back through later
