A Darwin parent put their child up for sale for $50 in an advertisement on Gumtree.

The post, “Kid for sale fifty bucks”, was listed on Saturday night along with a photograph of the boy, NT News reports.

“Can deliver/ drop off. Or pick up,” the post read.

The post, listed under the ‘outdoor toys’ category, also reportedly included a pick-up address.

The listing clearly violates Gumtree Australia’s terms of use, which says “we do not accept ads selling body parts/bodily fluids, adoption or surrogacy anywhere on the site”.

  • What sadness !

  • Sickening to see this happen

  • Wow, I hope this was a joke.

  • This was probably supposed to be a joke. A very sick joke though!

  • Surely this was just a joke? I mean, we’ve all been tempted at some point, but we would never do it for real.

  • I’m hoping this was just a joke though??

  • I am sure this was someone’s idea of a joke but with an address and photo it’s very dangerous and could be very damaging.
