A toddler has been rushed to hospital after being bitten by a Rottweiler.

The one-year-old boy was rushed to Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital after he was bitten on the leg. He is said to be in a stable condition, reports The Courier Mail.

Paramedics also treated two other people involved, including a 63-year-old female who sustained an injury to her hand and a 52-year-old female who was complaining of chest pain after witnessing the attack.

Both are said to be in a stable condition.

We hope he makes a full recovery.

  • I hope everybody recovers quickly. I wonder who the dog belongs to and how it came into contact with the baby. Rottweilers have got very strong jaws. They need to be very strictly trained. Done properly they are very loyal dogs.
No stranger would want to touch their owner – they would get growled at.
If their owner was attacked I am sure the dog would defend the owner against the attacker.

  • My neighbours have 3 children and they had a dog. the dog was allowed to wander and do its own thing. I spoke to the male owner one day about his dog and i complained because it had come charging into my yard and my cat that was sunning itself on the doorstep had had to quickly run inside. I yelled at the dog which annoyed my neighbour. I told him that it was not fair that my cat had to feel scared in his own yard. He told me that the dog was chasing birds and wasnt interested in my cat. He didnt get the point that the dog shouldnt be allowed to wander. I told him that his dog had gone me one day. He looked at me like I was an idiot and he refused to believe it. I told him he shouldnt trust the dog around the kids and he informed me that it was a very sweet natured dog. One day all was quiet and the next thing one of the kids was screaming and I heard one of the others yell out to their mum that the dog had bitten his brother. Thankfully it was a single warning bite but enough to scare them and the dog was soon rehomed with adults on a farm. The guy next door has never mentioned the dog to me.

    • How horrendous. Some people really don’t get it. One dog can be so quiet and peaceful with his owners, but that doesn’t mean he will behave the same way around other people or animals.
And when a dog comes into your yard, you have all the rights to ask his owner to keep him away.
I’m glad at least now the dog is somewhere else!

  • I would need to hear more of the facts before I could fairly comment on this. But that child should definitely not have been left unsupervised with a Rotty. I hope all involved have a speedy recovery

  • Just can’t be careful enough when kids are around dogs. I wish the baby the best recovery.

  • Lets hope the trauma of such an attack doesn’t last for too long – it usually does though. All dogs are potentially dangerous to people, especially young children. What a terrible thing to happen. The article doesn’t say – but all too often the dog is known to the child. What happened to the dog, what charges have been made against the owners?

    • All good questions and due care needs to be shown by owners and all people with dogs. The trauma will be difficult for the little one and everyone to deal with.

      • I would be looking at those who should have been supervising the 1 year old. It may not have been the dog or dog owners fault. As I’ve said,me need more info before being able to make an informed opinion
