I know a guy has very slight spina bifida. His parents were told he would never sit up, crawl or walk. His Mum took him for physiotherapy for a few years, initially very intensive. He nows plays soccer in a team that just missed qualification for the paraolympics, is a keen cyclist – he makes his brother-in-law keep up with him.He has a speech impairment which is worse if he gets really excited or stressed about something. He took up cycling to strengthen his leg muscles. He can’t live heavy or awkward shaped objects because of weakness in his back and shoulders.
