Hello!

The school holidays are almost finished, and it’s time for the kids to go back to school. So now it’s time to take care of yourself.

We find out the best, and easiest, ways to put a spring into your step and Naturopath Stephen Eddey has chatted to us about them below.

1. Keep up the water

When you’re on holidays, or on the weekend, it’s easy to remind your children to take regular sips from their water bottles. It is vitally important keep up your own hydration levels. Lack of water can cause lack of energy, headaches, and even cause weight gain as we can confuse hunger with being thirsty. Keep a bottle in the car (making sure your bottle doesn’t get too hot) or your bag. Make sure you put it in the freezer overnight so that it’s nice and cold on these hot days.

2.Cut down on the sugar

While we worry about the amount of sugar in our children’s lunchboxes, we can sometimes be a little less organised and strict with our own eating habits – especially if we’re busy. Meal planning, and prepping, can help you ensure that you have control over your daily calorie intake. Get the kids involved and make some sugar-free snacks, such as bliss balls, flapjacks, and keep small bags of almonds or fruit in your handbag for when the hunger pain strikes.

3.Be smart about supplements

Even if you’re eating well, there may be times that you need extra nutrients. Stress, overexertion, lack of sleep or starting a new exercise regime may cause lethargy. Make sure you go to bed at regular times (and you get up at the same time every day), keep the mobile devices and other ‘smart’ devices out of the bedroom too, so that you’re not tempted to stay up late scrolling.

Antioxidants such as Ubiquinol are vital for energy production and the repairing of cells, helping to reduce inflammation caused by free-radical release during exercise.  Taking a daily supplement specifically to boost energy and immune levels is a must – Ubiquinol is an easy way to safeguard your health.

Speak to your healthcare practitioner to find out which supplement is right for you. Always read the label and use only as directed.
