Cleaning the oven is a job I despise and I hate all the bought oven cleaner products which smell toxic.

I discovered this natural recipe for oven cleaner that works brilliantly without the need for a range of harsh chemicals and it smells lovely.

What you’ll need:

  • Orange peel
  • Lemon peel
  • Baking soda
  • White vinegar
  • Rosemary
  • Jar
  • Spray bottle

Method:

  1. Peel an orange and a lemon.
  2. In a jar, combine orange peel, lemon peel and fill with vinegar. Add a sprig of rosemary to reduce the vinegar smell.
  3. Let the ingredients infuse in the jar for five days.
  4. Pour liquid into a spray bottle.
  5. Apply baking soda to the spots in your oven you wish to clean. Spray your  oven cleaner on the baking soda.
  6. Wait 20 minutes before wiping down your oven with a wet sponge.

  • I would love to see comments from people saying how well this works. Til then I’m dubious as to whether it will work on my oven, it’s pretty gross

  • If you put alfoil in the bottom of your oven it saves a little bit of cleaning.
If you wait for your oven to cool and give it a quick wipe out after using you won’t find it so difficult to throughly clean when you do it.
