We refuse to cancel Halloween because of COVID! We may not be able to trick or treat as usual, but we can still have the best spooktacular Halloween family fun.
We’ve discovered some thrilling Halloween family events, where kids (and grown-ups) can dress-up, trick or treat and have the best time.
Halloween Family Fest: 30 October – 1 November, Sydney
Come and have a spook-tastic party at the Halloween Family Fest, with a bewitching line-up of excitement for the kids and grown-ups.
Transforming the Entertainment Quarter, Sydney, into a ghostly graveyard for three fun-filled days (30 October to 1 November 2020), Halloween Family Fest is set to delight families with fang-tastic rides, carnival games, showbags, trick-or-treating, a monster mash disco and family movies at an outdoor cinema! Tickets are now on sale.
Boo At The Zoo, Taronga Zoo – 31 October
A Spooktacular evening awaits at Taronga Zoo Sydney this Halloween with the launch of the Boo at the Zoo. A special, family-friendly event, Boo at the Zoo will take place between 5:30pm and 8:30pm on Saturday 31 October and lets guests explore the zoo after hours while enjoying some Spooktacular entertainment including Halloween themed QBE Free Flight Bird Show, Seals for the Wild presentation and Spider Talk.
Don your costume and get ready for the “wildest” Halloween event in town. From creepy crawly spider lanterns and deliciously ghoulish treats, to spooky entertainment and the opportunity to see one of three Halloween-inspired presentations, there’s so much on offer to delight big and little kids alike. There’s also an ice-cream treat waiting for every guest. The treats aren’t just for the humans, so watch in wonder as some of Taronga’s animals enjoy and devour some special Halloween enrichment of their own.
Tickets are priced at $27 for adults, $24.30 for concessions and $22 for children. To find out more and to book your tickets, head to taronga.org.au/BooAtTheZoo.

Remember – Sweets and chocolate are strictly for human trick-or-treaters and can be toxic to pets. Contact your vet
immediately if you suspect your pet has raided the candy bowl meant for humans.
For some pets, wearing a Halloween themed costume may cause undue stress. Always ensure outfits do not limit their movement, sight or airways. Remove accessories that could present a choking hazard and ensure the outfit is worn for short periods only under strict supervision.
Healthy Halloween Treats
Halloween is going to look a little different this year but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate the spooky festivities at home. These recipes are super fun for families to have a go at making and aren’t overloaded with sugars typically found in normal Halloween candy.
In addition to decorating the home and dressing up in costume, Halloween provides a great occasion for the kids to have some fun cooking in the kitchen and experimenting with their own spooky snack creations – just like Dr Frankenstein.
