BIG W shoppers have expressed their outrage after the Australian retailer announced they wouldn’t have an in-store Santa.

One mum was shocked after calling up her local BIG W store and discovering Santa would not be posing for pictures this year, shares Daily Mail.

‘What the?? Just rang Parabanks store in Salsibury SA and there’s no Santa this year,’ Tanya Elliot posted on the Big W Facebook page.

BIG W replied to the post saying, ‘Hi Tanya, unfortunately Santa photos will not be available this year however, there will be many other Christmas events in stores.’

Another customer wrote, ‘I am very disappointed with Big W Narellan every year this store always would have Santa come and visit with Mrs Clause and this year there is NO SANTA why?

‘My kids always have a photo with Santa ever since they have been born extremely disappointed shame on you,’ she wrote.

The retailers spokesperson replied,

‘Hi Lisa, thank you for contacting Big W. We are sorry to hear of your disappointment in regards to this. We will be sure to forward your feedback to the relevant team for review. Thanks, BIG W’.

I gave my local store a call here in Tassie and was also told there would be no Santa visiting this year and when I asked why, it was explained to me that they had not received any further information.

If you intended to visit your local Big W for a Santa photo this year, feel free to check with them first, but it would be a good idea to consider somewhere else that does Santa photo’s.

Do you normally visit Big W for Santa pics?

  • here is your answer in a long winded kind of way … Big W are up the creek with only one paddle http://www.news.com.au/finance/business/retail/analysts-split-on-the-future-of-big-w/news-story/60a1462832d4865c73ae844ed132084a and it is a shame that the management board are not thinking outside the square on this, they might just be able to get things back on track if they did

  • I don’t think our Big W has ever had Santa photos, not to my knowledge anyway.

  • Target is the same this year as I know the Santa that djd our local Target last year he was told the new CEO said they dont have enough money this year. Oh well he will still be in Harvey Norman Saturday and Sunday and you get 1 photo free. So thats just as easy.

  • Maybe it is another think that has become politically correct. Not all religions celebrate Christmas. I know Jews don’t but I don’t think they would complain.
A lot of schools no longer sing Christmas Carols for fear of offending others.

  • We had a photo taken last year and were told they would post it out to us. We then received a photo of someone else’s children and ours was lost. So maybe it might be a good idea that they don’t have one.

  • I didn’t even know that there was Santa in a Big W, that’s not where I’d take my kids anyway.

  • Luckily, in big cities at least, there are other options.

  • That is a bit sad, my girls were a bit scared of santa but I still managed a few photos when they were really little. I love looking back at those pics!

  • I’ve never been to Big W for a Santa pic, but I am sure a lot of kids were looking forward to it. :-(

  • There are always other stores to get a Santa photo!
