At least THREE people have been taken to hospital after a car smashed through the foyer of a shopping centre southwest of Melbourne.

The incident happened at the Moorabook Street entrance to the Westfield shopping centre in Geelong just before 11am on Thursday.

It’s understood a vehicle struck two pedestrians before ploughing through the glass sliding doors.

The two pedestrians and the elderly driver were stretchered into waiting ambulances and taken to hospital.

They are all said to have escaped serious injury and are believed to be in stable conditions.

  • I hope everybody makes a speedy recovery. I wonder what the cause of the accident was. I wonder if the driver pushed down on the brake or accelerator or the brake pedal ? Foot slipped of brake onto accelerator?, driver’s illness?, jammed throttle cable? brake failure? So many possible explanations.
Pity they didn’t delay reporting this until the cause is known
