BREAKING NEWS: Deception Bay North State School is in lockdown after 25 students ingested an unknown substance.

It has been reported lollies eaten by students at Deception Bay North State School may have been a synthetic drug.

A woman who has a child at the school told 9NEWS the incident happened around lunchtime, and involved Grade Four students.

The school was reportedly locked down while paramedics attended to the sick children.

It has been reported the children took a substance named “mystical fire” they believed was “popping candy”.

Mystical Fire is sold in hardware stores and can be used to alter the colour of open flames.

Paramedics have confirmed the 25 children took the substance “mystical fire”. Four children who took the substance have now been taken to hospital for further treatment. Statement from Deception Bay Nth State School: “school followed correct procedure””took immediate action to notify ambulance and parents”.

  • Sounds like the school did a wonderful job, what a scary situation :( suprised it spread to so many kids though, I would have thought maybe 3-4 friends sharing what they thought was popping candy together but it obviously got shared amongst the playground maybe? Also I’m guessing one kid has brought this to school from home thinking they were sneaky and found a bag of candy, poor things!

  • Oh no, how scary !! I just googled to find out if this is a primary or secondary school. Concerning that it’s a primary school and to know that this substance entered these young small children !! I hope they will be able to chase and catch the person who brought this upon these young children !
