A bus driver has been charged with drink driving offences while on his way to pick up children from school.

About 3.15pm on Friday 5 February, police stopped a bus on Caigan Street, Dunedoo, NSW.

The driver of the bus, a 55-year-old local man, was subjected to a roadside breath test and returned a positive reading.

He was taken to Dunedoo Police Station where he allegedly returned a positive breath test analysis reading of 0.09.

The man was charged with mid-range drink driving and his licence was suspended.

He has been granted conditional bail, to appear at Dunedoo Local Court on Friday 8 April 2016.

Police allege the bus driver was on his way to pick up children from a local school.

  • Oh wow! Thankfully he didn’t have a bus full of kids, but how many times has he done this before? It’s probably alot more common than we think. Maybe all drivers should be tested before their shifts!!

  • Scary. You put your child’s life into these peoples hands you expect them to take this responsibility highly.

  • So sad reading this kind of thing – as parents we have to trust those responsible for our kids. This is not ok. Glad he was caught!

  • For goodness sake. He has even less excuse than the average person.

    • Exactly, they know the rules, especially when driving buses. They should have to have 0 reading. They are driving a large vehicle with a large number of people and don’t have seatbelts either.
