Considering 7.5 million women struggle with infertility, talking about it and the use of IVF treatments to have children shouldn’t be taboo.

These celebrities are helping to break the taboo, and we totally love them for it!

  • Good for them. Just because they are celebs doesnt mean they are immune.

  • Such a pity that people don’t keep their thoughts to themselves. It can be so hurtful what people say – and it sure doesn’t help either, so keep your thoughts to yourself..

  • I think it’s more taboo with older women perhaps not with younger women?

  • I had my son via IVF 18 years ago and yes, it was taboo and not often talked about then. I do openly talk about it now. It is so important to as I felt so alone.

  • We never let anyone know that we were having problems falling pregnant. We tried for years and went through many IVF treatments. I was always made to feel ashamed because I wasn’t getting pregnant. I never let anyone know how much their comments hurt though.

    • Aw bless you, sorry you went through that.

  • Up to the individual what they want to discuss however people shouldn’t pry.

  • This would put a lot of stress on people trying to conceive, which unfortunately doesn’t help with conception.

  • Always sad when infertility affects couples; I feel their struggle..
But when someone asks if you are going to have a baby it’s not meant as hurtful, just excited for you.. well that’s how I try to think about it.

  • Think it’s a good thing that more people are open about this, including celebs, as many couples suffer under infertility.

  • And adding to this. Don’t ask a mum when she’s having the next one if she has one child. There may not be a next one.

    • Exactly! No one should be asked about how many children they have or want or if they want more or even if they want to have children. It is private business.

  • There is pain and disappointment for anyone that has issues with fertility. There is absolutely no shame and it should not be a taboo topic. But also I do not probe anyone about fertility or ask if they have children or if they want to have children.

  • I’ve been down this road and know the heartache that comes each month so i relate to this quite well

  • These are things that many women prefer to keep private so probably best to stop asking.

  • I used to hate being asked when we were having kids. A lot of people didn’t know we had miscarried and it just hurt every time we were asked. It seems like a harmless question, but in a lot of cases, it really isn’t

  • We chose not to discuss it while trying, as we felt it would add to the stress. We’ve been fine bout it since.
