Hello!

A childcare centre in Sydney has temporarily closed its doors over concerns that its staff has been infected with coronavirus.

The centre in Macquarie Park in Sydney’s northern suburbs closed after a number of staff members became unwell and displayed worrying symptoms of the virus.

Testing

The affected staff members are now getting tested to confirm whether they have indeed caught the potentially deadly virus, as reported in Nine News.

Banksia Cottage is on the Macquarie University campus and reportedly only 50 metres across the road from the aged care facility where a nurse contracted Coronavirus.

The daycare centre can accommodate 90 children at one time and is managed by Campus Life Children’s Services at Macquarie University. The childcare centre is on the Macquarie University campus.

  • I’m amazed more centres didn’t shut own.

  • It is very scary times but we all have to be careful and cautious and not make unnecessary trips

  • Were they diagnosed with Corona virus? Then that’s good. If not, just cold symptoms it’s not dealing with a situation very well.

  • This may seem a bit shallow considering that they would all be terrified and could all get sick and I am not trying to take anything away from that, but what happens with the families? Will they still be charged while the day care is closed and what happens with their sick/carers leave. If the staff test positive, the families are going to suffer financially as well as emotionally because they will all need to be quarantined while getting tested themselves, losing wages if they don’t have enough sick leave.

  • I suppose it better to be safe. I’m not too concerned though as the flu kills more people than this virus at this stage every year.

  • When one of the staff members is infected indeed I can imagine they’re cautious. I myself am not concerned. Good to follow the news and updates, but yes I think it’s all blown up too much and people go crazy which doesn’t help.

      • It is so important to stay calm and not panic. I have been so disappointed by articles and news reports of people behaving badly because of the virus.
