Hello!

Chocolate lovers all over the country bombarded Cadbury’s social media platforms in protest over the launch of the new Caramilk Hokey Pokey chocolate bar.

It all started when a chocolate lover posted an innocent image of the wrapper of an unknown chocolate bar on a Caramilk Addicts facebook group. Cue an instant frenzy.

Many people immediately thought this was a professional Photoshop hoax, but then there was a follow-up image of the actual chocolate and the hokey pokey filling of the caramel-flavoured treat.

“A golden blend of caramelised white chocolate and golden hokey pokey pieces,” the description on the chocolate reads.

The poster who caused all the frenzy, Jenna, said the new chocolate was given to her sister by someone who works for Cadbury’s in Tasmania. And she absolutely confirmed that it was real.

And so began the flurry of activity to reveal the truth about this tantalising discovery.

Is the Caramilk Hokey Pokey really real?

We Cannot Confirm Or Deny The Existence Of Caramilk Hokey Pokey

In true Cadbury style, the official response was initially very vague. Any requests to confirm the existence of the new chocolate was met with the reply:

We can’t confirm or deny but Hokey Pokey Caramilk does sound amazing!

And The Truth Was Finally Revealed….

But the excitement swelled and soon the chocolate company couldn’t stay tight-lipped about the new product.

They finally admitted that Caramilk Hokey Pokey is indeed the real deal….yes!!!!

BUT….there’s a catch.

Cadbury Caramilk Hokey Pokey will only be launched in New Zealand…booo!

“We’re excited to confirm that we are launching Caramilk Hokey Pokey in New Zealand this year,” Kate Watson, Cadbury’s marketing manager told news.com.au

“The combination of Cadbury Caramilk and Hokey Pokey brings together two iconic Kiwi flavours in the one delicious Cadbury block,” Ms Watson continued.

But It’s Not All BAD!

She did give us a slither of hope though:

“While Caramilk Hokey Pokey won’t be launching in Australia this year, we’d love to hear if it’s a flavour combo Aussie Caramilk fans would like to see us launch in future,” Ms Watson explained.

“In the meantime, we’ll have some good news to share with Cadbury Caramilk fans in Australia very soon.”

We reckon this won’t be the end of Caramilk Hokey Pokey for us Aussies.

WE WANT CARAMILK HOKEY POKEY!!!

A new facebook post on the Caramilk Addicts group calls for a REVOLT.

The post reads:
“Cadbury “Australia” have been known to bow to public pressure before, so why not post a comment on their page and let them know that Aussies want some of that Hokey Pokey goodness too!!! (I just did!).”

One the commenters agreed:
“I keep sending messages via messenger. Everyone needs to do this on a regular basis,” they suggested.

It’s Happened Before

This wouldn’t be the first time that Cadbury has buckled under public pressure. Recently, a passionate social media group successfully campaigned for the return of fan favourite Cadbury Marble chocolate.

The Bring Back Cadbury Marble Facebook page had over 20,000 fans and after eight years of lobbying, Cadbury finally agreed to re-launch the beloved flavour.

Something similar happened with the relaunch of the popular Caramilk chocolate. The milky, caramelly chocolate bar caused a major frenzy last year when Cadbury resurrected the chocolate for a short time. It flew off the shelves and popped up on eBay for exorbitant prices.

But then it disappeared again and fans were left mourning its gap in the chocolate world. Internet celeb, Christian Hull, was so gutted by its disappearance that he even launched a petition to make the white chocolate caramel block ‘a permanent thing’. Cadbury realised that they’d be crazy to let the Caramilk craze melt so they agreed to bring back Caramilk as a regular product line (although saying that, it’s been off the shelves for ages now).

Watch This Space!

We reckon it won’t be too long before we’ll be tasting our own block of creamy Caramilk Hokey Pokey. But in the meanwhile, if you have any mates across the ditch, ask them to be a mate and send you a block or two.

  • Not a fan of Cadbury’s chocolate or hokey-pokey, so I’m not worried that it’s only for NZ. Thanks for clearing up the confusion though.
