Chrissy Teigan appeared on Tyra Banks’ new show FABlife this week, and the interview became quite emotional when it came to discussing children.

The supermodel is married to singer John Legend, and while the pair would love to have children of their own, Teigan admitted they were “having trouble” conceiving.

While the couple have been together for almost 10 years, the 29-year-old revealed “We would have had kids five, six years ago if it had happened. But my gosh, it’s been a process.”

The star then shared her frustration at constantly being asked by the media about when she and Legend would be starting a family.

“Anytime someone asks me if I’m going to have kids I’m like ‘One day you’re going to ask that to the wrong girl who is really struggling, and it’s going to be really hurtful to them.'”

“And I hate that. So I hate it. Stop asking me.”

Teigan’s comments prompted Banks to share her experiences, after she revealed to People magazine that she had undergone IVF in the hopes of having a child with boyfriend Erik Asla.

“I am so tired of seeing on my social media ‘Why don’t you have kids?'” a visibly emotional Banks shared.

“You don’t know. You don’t know what I’m going through, you have no idea.”

“I just feel like we are so hard on each other and judgemental of each other.”

  • I agree that people should not ask. I made sure not to ask my daughter. I figured if she wanted me to know she would tell me.

  • Famous people don’t really get private lives do they?

  • I don’t think it’s anyone else’s business whether a person has children or not.

  • I agree with her comments, it’s a very sensitive topic for a lot of people.

  • Its such a heartbreaking experience for those that experience infertility. Media certainly lack any sort of sensitivity.

  • Totally agree, it’s their own business.

  • It’s such a shame that so may people want to make it their business about other peoples private lives. Totally support Chrissie and all women (couples) who are having problems, the time isn’t right, medical issues or simply don’t want children!

  • She is absolutely right. It’s no-one’s business and it’s a particularly nosy subject to raise.

    • yep let’s mind our business and it will happen when it is supposed to

  • A lot of people need to think before they speak.

  • I absolutely and totally agree with both Chrissie and Tyra. I was myself in the same situation having been married for 6 years then tried to have a baby. It’s true, from the time you get married, people start asking when you’re having kids. We tried for 4 years, of which 2 and a half were on IVF. It was trying, gruelling, emotional, difficult, hard. I discussed it with very few people and felt that nobody would understand. Only now, 14 years after my one and only precious son was born do I feel confident saying that he was born via IVF. Having been through IVF and lost babies, I never ask people when they’re having a baby. It is so hurtful, intrusive, insensitive, and rude. You have no right. When someone wants to share that information with you, they will.

  • People should mind their own business! busybodies have got nothing better to do with themselves! this type of prying can be very hurtful!

  • People should mind their own business. For this exact reason. They would so desperately want children and are struggling to do so, and people constantly as long or putting them down because of it isn’t helping anyone.

  • stop asking me shes asking

  • I hate it when people ask that or say come on you have been married long enough when will you have kids. Even if you are jokingly saying it, you never know what someone is going through, you don’t know if they have had fertility issues or had a miscarriage.
