Baby helmets are often used to treat flat head syndrome as Chrissy Teigen has shared, but really why troll a mamma over her choice?

It’s super common, one 2013 study estimated 46% of babies have a degree of positional plagiocephaly.

Doctor’s will often recommend a baby wear a custom cranial orthotic helmet to correct the flat spot, and Chrissy Teigen’s son Miles is one of those babies, she just announced via Instagram.

“My baby bug got his head shaping helmet today! Please don’t feel bad for him if you see photos,” Chrissy captioned a pic of Miles in his helmet posted Monday. “He is a happy bug and we’re just fixing his flat!”

baby miles getting fitted for a little helmet today for his adorable slightly misshapen head. so if you see pictures, don’t feel bad for him because he’s just fixing his flat and honestly he’s probably gonna be even cuter with it somehow

Teigen as usual has already seen some backlash from internet commenters critical of her decision to get Miles a helmet. She responded:

Why must people insist on judging parents over the littlest things?

  • Confusing to me why people felt the need to troll her decision to help her bub. People are strange sometimes.

  • I don’t know why people find it so necessary to be so judgemental of others. As mums, we all just try to do our best. But I guess if you want to share it all on social media, you have to be prepared for the trolls and nastiness that undoubtedly comes your way

  • I don’t understand why she got trolled ? My youngest had quite severe plagiocephaly and her skull was really misshaped and her neck was tense and strained. Sometimes these temporary meassures are just necessary and I’m with Chrissy, we don’t have to feel bad about it.

  • These decisions are the mother and father’s to do, and others should keep their noses out of it.

  • people are know all jerks, I argued with a woman that was picking on a mother’s choice one night even though I didn’t agree with the points I was making just so I could put this woman back in her place. A parent is more informed than you to make a responsible and loving decision for their child

  • Some people seriously have nothing better to do then look to the internet for arguments…. kinda wonder what they did b4 the internet?

  • Surely after a while – you would just wave off trolls for being so predictable and boring with their comments.

  • I don’t understand why people feel the need to judge her on that. What do they really know ??

  • How horrible! No one has a right to judge!

  • I feel so sorry for her, why must people do that

  • Trolls will pick on people no matter what, they will always find a way to try and bring someone else down – usually because they are unhappy in their own lives. Good on her for standing up to them and moving on

    • As the saying goes ‘don’t feed the trolls!’. :)

  • Now that babies sleep on their backs because of the risk of SIDS the flat head problem has increased a lot.

  • She copes remarkably well with this idiocy.
