Hello!

OMG Australia Day has just got more tasty with the launch of a brand new “Aussie-flavoured” Hot Cross Buns at Coles.

So what exactly is An Aussie-flavoured bun? Well, glad you asked. The clever clogs at Coles decided to marry up their hot cross buns with the classic Lamington, ’cause clearly can’t get much more Aussie than Lamingtons.

It’s a mash-up made in taste-bud paradise and it follows customer feedback which revealed 54 per cent of customers surveyed said they’d love to eat a lamington-flavoured bun.

Perfect Match

The limited edition Coles Lamington Hot Cross Buns are made with chocolate, studded with milk chocolate chips, toasted shaved coconut chunks and bursts of soft raspberry jellies.

The good news is that we don’t have to wait until Easter to try out the new treat. This scrumptious Lamington x Hot Cross Bun Combo is available across Coles stores now!

Aussies Are Hot Cross Bun Crazy!

Apparently, since launching hot cross buns on Boxing Day, more than 11-million hot cross buns have already been sold at Coles stores nationally, suggesting that Australians just can’t get the Easter treat early enough.

Coles Senior Category Manager Freddie Hancock said that customers are becoming increasingly open to new flavours when done right.

“We know Australians love traditional products that have a nostalgic pull but with a modern-day twist – and we think we’ve got a real winner here with our new lamington hot cross buns just in time for Australia Day,” he said.

“We’re always listening to customer feedback to determine new product launches, and it’s important for us to have some fun with flavours and shake up the hot cross bun market to give customers something they’ve never had before, but ultimately it has to taste great.

“We’ve spent months fine-tuning the recipe to make sure we have the perfect flavour profile of a lamington in a hot cross bun using its traditional pairing of chocolate, coconut and raspberry.”

  • I didnt see these again this year :(

  • I love the Apple & Cinnamon ones from Bakers Delight, heated with butter. Lamington hot cross buns sound gimmicky and gross.

  • I never saw these at Coles

  • I have never liked hot cross buns as I dislike the taste of cinnamon and dried fruits and it’s so unhealthy, I don’t want to fill my tummy with a gross tasting roll. The fact that Coles had Hot Cross Buns and Easter Eggs on Sale at my Local Coles the day after Christmas, Im OVER Easter this year. It’s just a money waste on sugary rubbish. That all said these Lamington buns sound yummy and if I find a packet marked down I’ll definitely like to give them a try. These may be a treat my family and I can all enjoy with Milos on Easter. ????

  • I thought hot cross buns were meant to be for Easter. I must admit I only buy the fruit buns for my family, I also get the fruitless ones for myself. Might try the lamington ones but not until Easter.

  • I do love hot cross buns but why do people feel the need to change the flavour of things all the time?
We tried the lamington chips and we all nearly spat it out, gross!
