Michelle Bridges responded this week to the backlash she received over her post-birth exercise regime, saying she was given the OK by her doctors to train. Commando has also stepped in to defend his partner.

Steve ‘Commando’ Willis  come to Michelle’s defence telling Nova hosts Fitzy and Wippa – “It definitely had an effect on her, but she is a big girl and it will pass over time. It is something she has always done. She has always liked to get out and about, feel good in herself.”

“Also, psychologically it helps to calm her mind, as many people out there that exercise know.”
“All these people that just get on her coattails to cut it down use it as leverage to voice their opinion. So be it, but the lounge chair and other things are killing people a lot more than someone who has just had a baby, pushing their pram out on a footpath,” the 39-year-old said.

“People pigeon hole. So now she’s a new mother with a baby, she can only speak to new mothers. Her audience is much bigger than that and we’ve got to be mindful of that.”

“A lot of people were freaked out that I was exercising [while pregnant]. But there is research as long as your arm on the benefits of exercising,” Michelle told the Australian Women’s Weekly.

“Not everyone can exercise during pregnancy — I understand that — but if you have been given the all clearance by your specialist, there are some incredible benefits to you and the baby during pregnancy, the birth, after the birth and the future.”

  • LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE! Lol. Seriously though, She’s a personal trainer. She exercises for a living. She’s probably as fit as she will ever be. If her Ob-Gyn said she can exercise, she can exercise. Who are we to judge? Particularly from so far on the outer rim of her life. I guarantee it, if I say to anyone, “That Michelle Bridges is a great role model for women everywhere. Dr’s always say that if you are at a certain level of fitness before pregnancy, as long as there’s no heavy lifting or crazy stuff, you can maintain that level of exercising without harming yourself or the baby.”… that there will be a thousand and one people, at least, saying that I’m an idiot, and I don’t know what I’m talking about. And there would be just as many people agreeing with me.

I can also guarantee, that no matter WHAT I think or say, it will make absolutely not one iota of difference to how Michelle lives her life, or what she thinks of herself and her exercise routine.

Save your energy, and focus on things that matter, or that actually are your business.

    Global warming.
    Famine.
    War.
    Pestilence. (Pesticides, lol)
    Genital Mutilation.
    Opression of women and children.
    Opression of cultures and religions.
Opression of just about everything and everyone who disagrees with those ‘in charge’.

    Etc.

Life is a big, long, drawn out process. Instead of worrying what a celebrity is doing, we ought to focus on what WE are doing.

    We can make a difference.

    Ok, rant over. ;)

  • Her body, its that used to a heavy workout, if she had never exercised before and was doing it, it would be a different story.

  • It’s her body, she can do what she likes. I’m sure there’s worse things being done by other new mothers!

  • So much fuss… just let her enjoy her new life as a mum!

  • I’m glad she got the all clear. Of course since she is in the public eye, she will be judged. It’s certainly not “normal” for all woman to be doing that after having a baby

  • Just because she was given the ok, it doesn’t mean her exercises are ok for normal women. She needs to be mindful and respectful of that.

  • We are different and as Michelle said get information before doing anything. There are women in other parts of the world who go back out to work in the fields after having a baby . Then there are the cultures where mums and babies are not allowed outside or touching the ground. So if it is safe for you then go ahead but get advise before hand.

  • Good on her! And if only people took the time to notice the disclaimers saying to check with your GP or physician before starting any new program there wouldn’t had been a problem. In the somewhat mis-quoted words of Tay swift “haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate Couch potatoes gonna potate Tate Tate Tate”

  • yeah this is really getting carried on. it is her life and her choice. she can do what she wants and even moreso, if docs have said she is fine :)

  • It’s nice that he’s being supportive. I agree with him how some people are using this as an opportunity to get their voice out their using her fame. But im glad it’s going to just pass all this fuss over it.

  • For goodness sake. Is she really going to put her health at risk. Do people really think they know more than she does about herself and her life. Use some common sense people. Im sure she got the ok from her dr and kniws what she id doing. Unless and until you know more about her than she does ,pull your heads in and mind your own business. All negative comments about this situation, are not out of concern for Michelle but to have their two cents worth. Xxoo

  • Well, her specialist was ok with it, and she surely knew what she was doing, so good on her! :-)
