Excitement and adventure await all loyal subjects at the fifth annual St Ives Medieval Faire, where the St Ives Showground will transform into a captivating world of grand tournaments, brave knights, fearsome Vikings and lavish food.

We’re giving away 5 x Family Passes to the Faire, each is for 2 Adults and 2 Children and each pass is valued at $99! The Faire is on Saturday 22 September and Sunday 23 September 2018 at St Ives Showground.

This two-day celebration of medieval history is the nation’s premier medieval history event, held in high regard amongst medieval re-enactors for its historical authenticity. Over 350 Living History Re-enactors from all around Australia will journey to St Ives to set up fully interactive encampments, giving the public the opportunity to walk through and immerse themselves in seven centuries of history.

Jousters from across Europe, including Lady Caroline, from Sweden, Michaël Sadde from France, Arne Koets from The Netherlands, Per Estein Prøis-Røhjell from Norway and more – will make the trip to Australia to compete in full armour on horseback in what is the Southern Hemisphere’s only solid lance joust. Medieval taverns across the venue will serve ales custom-made for the Faire by Crow’s Nest all-female brewing team Two Birds Brewing. Further highlights include Birds of Prey demonstrations, archery displays, Australia’s only Giant Trebuchet catapault, live music performances across two stages all day (with highlight acts including Renaissance duo Wayward and the Sydney Balalaika Orchestra), costume competitions, bonfires, live music, workshops, artisans markets, and plenty of kids activities.

Fun For The Kids

It’s a really unique, educational and fun day out for the kids – we have kids’ “Knight School”, archery tag, a petting zoo, pony rides, a Jesters juggling academy, and the chance for kids to walk through seven centuries’ worth of fully immersive “living history” camps and ask the re-enactors questions about what they’re making and doing. Not to mention the excitement of the Joust!

A VIP Feast option is on offer featuring authentic medieval suckling pig, spatchcock, parsnip pies, soups, cherry tarts & more, Grazing Table, Horse-Drawn Carriage VIP Transfers, premium members’ seating for the Joust.

  • jousting, because it looks like so much fun!

  • Definitely more meat on the spit,
    It’s always a hit.
A daily thing would be yum,
    As it’s tasty and fun!

  • the freedom to enjoy horses and nature

  • making mead :-)

  • Nine Men’s Morris. Similar to chess and requires the same amount of strategy. The application of mathematics is required to enhance the chances of winning. Simple and difficult at the same time. Quite addictive and can take quite a while to play a single game.

  • Ladies in waiting, and Queens

  • Corsets, I love the look a truely feminine was to dress, ladies were truely ladies and cared for themselves

  • The banquets and elegance of times were kings and queens ruled

  • This is the key to time management – to see the value in every moment
    the castles and knights

  • Making Mead at home. I love Mead! I had it at a medieval fair once and it was so good. I have been reading about making it at home but never got around to it. Maybe a trip to the St. Ives fair will spur me on!

  • Looming and retelling of epic stories around a log fire… I’d love to ‘Spin a Yarn’!

  • Playing dress-ups with my friends about superheroes and saving people.

  • I wish we could bring back the food because they usually always ate cabbage, beans, eggs, oats and brown bread and meat was a specialty item eaten only now and then so they were really 90% Vegetarian. As a Vegetarian myself I think this is awesome.

  • Merlin as he was amazing

  • With three boys and a husband mad for history and epic battles, I’d have to say
we need to bring back the Trebuchet!
Building, taking aim, then firing at the enemy
More fun than a a screen any old day.
No need for an iPad, laptop or Xbox
Just a clever opponent for you to outfox!
