10 lucky winners will receive a copy of The Drop-Off by Fiona Harris & Mike McLeish!

The Drop-Off is a hilarious look at the unlikely friendship between three parents who gossip, laugh, drink coffee and would rather keep to themselves at school drop off. A cross between Kitty Flanagan and Liane Moriarty, this is a novel that will make you laugh and cry while reminding us all of the redemptive power of friendship, community, forgiveness… and good coffee!

And it all begins at The Drop-Off.

Written by husband and wife team, Mike McLeish and Fiona Harris, The Drop-off is based on the award-winning, critically acclaimed web series of the same name.

  • The crying oh the crying

  • Best! My dad use to drive a BMW motorbike and he’d sometimes stop me at school on it. Kids used to line up along the fence to watch. It was my rockstar moment ????

  • Gossiping mothers in the “Sand-pit set” – they were like the grown-up equivalent of Mean Girls! Half an hour before school finished, they were there – giggling, spreading mindless scuttlebutt, and excluding the uncool Mums!

  • I’ll never forget the morning I dropped my youngest off for her first day at kindy. I dutifully kissed, hugged and waved but as soon as she was out of sight I headed home quick smart and had the first solo cup of tea I’d had in years.

  • No tears and tantrums here, just went in meek as a lamb promising to be good and promptly asked permission to use the bathroom, but instead walked home and hid out with grandma until discovered eating biscuits, drinking tea and watching old movies!

  • Like a lot of mums, I often drop my kids off in my pyjamas. One morning, my son came back out of the school gate to tell me that his teacher needed to speak to me urgently. I reluctantly spoke to the teacher in my pyjamas – I now get dressed to drop off my kids!

  • Worst memory is waiting in the school courtyard for my little one, seeing a group of mums on the other side staring. When the little one comes to me after the school bell, she says “mum, why is there toilet paper hanging out of your jeans”.

  • Standing in the kindy courtyard with a group of Mums, listening to an anecdote about one’s son which made us all roar with laughter – and looking up to see all of kindy plastered against the window to see what the noise was about!

  • First day of school for number three. All ready for tears and hugs, but she hops out of the car and heads for the playground. She was SO ready! She did not even look back. The tears were mine alone!

  • I went to school drop off with my sister to drop her son off to Kindergarten to be her voice of reason – we’re dropping him off to school so now he stays and you go home. That was an epic fail – it ended up being me dragged away.

  • the warmest memory from school drop off was reconnecting with a childhood friend from primary school whom I had lost touch with when her parents moved away. It was like finding my long lost sister again. we never lost touch again.

  • Worst memories of tantrums from the little ones who wanted to go to school with their big brothers.

  • Was standing with a friend, when our kids walked up to us and said very loudly that they caught a nit in their hair and chased each other around with it…died

  • When the kids coming running to the car and jumped in the car in front of mine same model and colour. Everyone had a good laugh

  • I love those mornings when I’m so organised that even the school uniform is clean and ironed. I don’t love those mornings when I get to school with my perfectly ironed child only to see Elsa, Superman and Harry Potter…BOOK WEEK…
