Ella’s Kitchen was created by Ella’s Dad and UK founder, Paul Lindley. Faced with the challenge of getting his daughter Ella excited about mealtimes, Paul decided to tackle the problem. With a lot of extensive research into healthy eating habits in children, Ella’s Kitchen is regarded globally as an expert on what can help babies and toddlers to eat healthily.

  • Variety is the spice of life, our daughter sits with us at meal times and we sing songs and play silly games to make it much more fun with every meal.

  • My toddler adores eating with her Mummy and Daddy in her booster seat at the table. We sing silly songs about vegetables to encourage her and Daddy often pretends to eat her food so she gobbles it up, which she thinks is hilarious.

  • Have the kids involved in the menu plannning for the week, food prep, cooking, setting table AND cleaning up

  • I put the fun into mealtimes with lots of colour and variety! We make faces with vegetables and go places for picnics. Me and my kids cook allsorts and judge the best meal to give the winner a star :)

  • We go on Dinner Vacations! I love cooking and love variety in my meals. We would very rarely have the same thing two nights in a row or even in a week. I get everyone involved and we have “Dinner Vacations”.
We decide together what country or region we are going to “visit”. We research that location and I serve up food from that region. Sometimes (if time permits) we even dress up, create place mats or play games to really get into the feel of that region.
Although time consuming it works really well because it excites the kids and they are more open to trying different foods rather than questioning what is in it and saying “I don’t like it” before they have even tried it!

  • I make it as fun as possible with some singing and yummy exciting finger food…. a few faces too lol

  • We enjoy cooking together and ‘themed’ dinner nights.

  • I run a family day care and I always incorporate the kids into cooking with me for their meals. Its teaches them in so many different ways and hopefully will encourage them to eat healthy and enjoy cooking. I know they love it!!

  • We sit together as a family and talk about our day. Anything that my daughter has trouble eating (picky 1 year old) we cut into shapes and make it into a game.

  • I make my fussy childs food into the shape of a rainbow, theres always a yellow food item at the bottom which looks like the pot of gold. This works a treat as he finds eating his rainbow to get the gold fun.

  • My bub loves to share her food with me then for dessert, she loves sucking on an Ella’s fruit pouch! She has done since about 5 months old! nom nom

  • I make it fun with noises and moving it around. My LO loves food so it doesn’t take much! :)

  • I sing some made up songs while the children are eating. It gets them into a happy mood and they tend to forget what they are eating at the time. They just laugh at me :)

  • My little girl has just started solid food and we have lots of funny animals, cars, planes and trains on her spoon! She often finds it so funny she is too busy laughing to eat!

  • We set out items at dinner time in bowls/plates and let our son serve himself – it’s surprising what he chooses, and he loves the fact he gets to use tongs! I also cut his sandwiches into dinosaur shapes, as well as buy commercial chicken nuggets shaped like dinosaurs (he likes dinosaurs)
