  • My favourite story, when I was growing up, was The Little Engine That Could. I love its positive message!

  • Alice in Wonderland as it is creative and unique story

  • I just adore the mischievous Hairy Maclary

  • Alfie the Angelfish and The Great Escape is my favourite as it was the first children’s book that made little Ethan smile! Ethan is such a “boy” as is Alfie and they both grew in the process of us reading and rereading this absolute favourite book of ours.

  • My Brown Bear Barney as my children and grandchildren love to point out the objects that make up their world, and what a wonderful world it is.

  • Tuppeny, Feefo and Jinx by Enid Blyton. Tuppeny, a green goblin was the first character I associated with. He was small and chubby like me, he loved to grow flowers and have adventures like me – no one else approved, yep. He met Feefo and Jinx and their adventures began, yeah!

  • Very hungry caterpillar, I feel it is almost my biography apart from the butterfly bit

  • Roald Dahls’ Matilda was my favourite book growing up. This book inspired me, through Matilda, to be brave when I was feeling challenged and to be kind, especially when I felt in need of a little kindness myself. A wonderfully beautiful story!

  • Roald Dahls’ Matilda was my favourite book growing up. This book inspired me through it’s main character Matilda, to be brave when feeling challenged and to be kind, especially when I was in need of it myself. A wonderfully beautiful story.

  • I Can Read With My Eyes Shut! – “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Dr. Seuss inspired me to live my life the best I can possibly be!

  • Where is Green Sheep?
I love this book because it teaches that animals and humans come in all different colours and shapes and that as humans we look out for all our fellow beings and nature. Powerful and beautifully illustrated

  • We love The Wonky Donkey. Such a cleverly written book/song, entertaining, do much fun to try and read as quickly as we can and the illustrations are awesome too! Fun for the whole family!

  • We love “The Gruffalo” by Julia Donaldson in this house! The rhyming means the kids remember the story well and the characters of mouse and monster are really cute. The kids get excited pointing to the monster on each page and think it’s really funny. Perfect for their imaginations!

  • As a teacher, I’ve recently introduced ‘Animalia’ by Graeme Base into our classroom library. The exquisite detail of the illustrations captivate my students for hours as they searched for hidden objects and alphabetized things. It is certainly a book to get lost in and no doubt, an Australian favourite!

  • Favourite book? Any Lynley Dodd ones .. all Hairy Maclary antics enjoyed, treasured and related to our pets .
