  • I set my Timer for Breaks eg 1 hour and have 30min house work jobs, or the other way around depending on the job

  • I have scoliosis & osteoporosis, as home business owner, I do all of the graphics, customer service, book keeping, my back & ribs are driving me insane. I need to stand up,stretch, go for walks Do pilates & yoga!

  • A timer. To avoid back pain I set a timer for 45 minutes. When it goes off I stand up and move for 15 minutes and then repeat. My back is much stronger and more flexible since I’ve started using the timer. Great for getting off the phone too, lol!

  • Set yourself some calendar drops in your outlook folder with small appointments for down time and recharge. Don’t be afraid to roam around in your comfy slippers, everyone deserves to be comfy while working.

  • I have a timer that goes off every 30 minutes. I have to get up from my desk and do a job in another room for 5 minutes e.g. tidy an area, water the plants, put washing on, etc. Gets some housework done as well which is a bonus.

  • Every time the clock strikes the hour I take a 3 minute break!

  • A walk to the printer, toilet, bin, lunch room or for a snack are all ways to change it up during the day.

  • Get a puppy! Trust me they make you very regular take breaks, if only to rescue work documents from their mouths.

  • On your water bottle draw lines a to where you should drink to at a minimum at specific intervals during the day. When you hit special lines take a break from your activities.

  • I have moved my office home and sometimes I can get stuck at the computer for hours. I make a point of half filling my water bottle so that I have to get up to refill it. Regular neck stretches also work wonders.

  • Set my google home to play my favourite music at certain times of the day – and then I must dance. Fun is the key to my daily movement.

  • Maximising every opportunity to get off your butt. Walking to a colleagues workstation, rather than email or phone. Spreading out any printing jobs if the printer is away from your workstation. Brief social chats with colleagues at the tea room. Lunch time walks. Hourly calendar alerts for breaks.

  • Drick lots of water, mkaes sure you have to leave the desk to go to the toilet!! and refill you water glass

  • I park my car in the 2 hour parking at work, unless I want a fine I must get up and get moving very 2 hours. Nothing gets me moving more than the parking ranger on the prowl

  • Knowing how easy it is to get engrossed with work, colleagues’ inane chatter and phones ringing, you’ve got to have an alarm! Whether phone app or desktop, that’ll zap you into action!
