WIN the hilarious new ‘Birds & Bees’ kids book that uses the weird world of sex in the animal kingdom to show how normal human sex is.

‘The Birds And The Bees And Giraffes That Drink Wee’ is a book designed to help normalise the topic of sex for kids, and provide adults with a disarmingly entertaining way of broaching this awkward subject with children in the first place.

With research suggesting to have ‘the talk’ with kids sooner rather than later, this book enables parents to frame sex in a natural and positive light from the start, and provides children with an accessible and humorous entry point on the matter.

This is the debut book from childhood friends Dave Hartmann and Justin Sweeting, who having both had a painfully awkward chat with their own children, felt the crying need for a book like this.

The book takes a hilarious journey through the animal kingdom, discovering all the weird and wild ways that many other animals mate –

From penis fencing worms.
Hippos that fire poo in each others’ faces.
Bees whose testicles explode.
And giraffes that drink each other’s wee.

Providing children with an entertaining reminder that sex is something that all animals (not just your parents) do. And that in comparison, human sex is really the most normal and tame of them all!

  • A turtle because it’s so slow that by the time it got to where it wanted to be it would have forgotten why it went there in the first place

  • Platypus that’s an animal with a few things going on …

  • I think a Kookaburra, they make a noise like a monkey thats really loud and makes you want to find that monkey

  • I think the female prey mantis has to take the cake of scariest love encounter as she eats her mate after finishing love making. That’s truly the wackiest way to make love.

  • the weirdest animal is the human being, they are often so cruel but can be so loving and caring. Animals in the animal kingdom are consitent in their behaviour.

  • Dogs, because they eat cats poo. Doesn’t matter if it’s from the litter tray or the garden, they will eat it. It has something to do with nutrients. But it’s gross, disgusting and weird. Lol

  • My daughter would say the blob fish, but because it’s so ugly and sad looking. Cockroaches are pretty weird. If their head is chopped off, the body can survive for weeks!

  • My kids this the walrus is a weird animal they say it looks like a big blob with teeth and my son thinks it funny how the walrus kind of wobbles when it walks.

  • Platypus. They glow in the dark. Looks like a duck but it dont quack like a duck!

  • it would definitely be humans.. male or female we’re all so hard to understand and so very weird. From how we think, eat, talk to how the birds and bees works for us!

  • The platypus for sure – its a mammal that lays eggs, the males have poisonous barbs on their back legs, have the bill of a duck, the tail of an otter, glows in the dark and lives in a burrow. And they still manage to be supremely cute.

  • As an Australian it would have to be the platypus as the strangest animal. With all it different features and now they have found out the glow underneath in the dark. What was going on when this animal evolved, laying eggs, spikes, duck bill, a tail that can flatten things and then it has fur. So magical.

  • Pangolins are the only known mammal with scales. Their habitat covers parts of Central and West Africa, India and Southeast Asia. When threatened by predators, pangolins roll up into a defensive ball, protected by their armor-like coating of keratin scales. Sadly, these insectivores are one of the most illegally trafficked mammals in the world. Their scales are thought to have medicinal powers in parts of Asia, and though an international ban exists on their trade, the numbers of wild pangolin have dropped drastically as a result of poaching.

  • There’s a lot of weird animals but I think the weirdest is the Hippo because they fire poo into each other’s faces, gross but funny

  • Sea monkeys…. how did they even get that name??
