Interactive Language Fun

Join animal friends Turtle, Tiger and Monkey as you explore 100-plus vocabulary words. Touch the pictures on each colourful page to hear the animals say words and share exciting facts and sound effects. Immerse your child in bilingual play by sliding the language switch to hear the words, songs, and instructions in Mandarin Chinese. Touch the pictures to hear silly sound effects in Fun Sounds mode or press the light-up star button to hear two learning songs.

The included 32-page Learning Activity Guide provides parents with hands-on activities and teaching tips to help children get the most enjoyment and learning out of this bilingual book. Using everyday items, parents can help children make connections between the concepts and vocabulary and real-life actions and objects.

What Mums Are Saying

@BowtifulChescaDoll (Mum to Chesca, 2 and Gabby, 6): “It’s great educational material for bilingual children and even parents to learn and recall some of the basic words, phrases and songs in Chinese (Mandarin).  I also highly recommend this for older children who will learn a lot of basic Mandarin words from this book.

“Chesca listened to me as she touched the correct pictures of each corresponding word I asked for in English.  When she switched to Chinese mode, I asked her to touch each picture again and repeat what the book said in Chinese. She did so well in listening to my instructions.  I love how this book keeps her engaged in learning both languages while being attentive!”

@Brayjoe828 (Mum to 4 children): “Dion had so much fun exploring 100 plus vocabulary words in English and Chinese.  I love how with the slide of a button your child can immerse in bilingual play.  This will help them build a strong and solid literacy foundation.”

bilingualkidspot.com: “Kids can either be immersed in bilingual play, or for families with a Chinese and an English-speaking parent, each parent can use the book in their native language.  With Chinese being one of the most spoken languages in the world, it is fast becoming a popular language to learn for English speakers.

“Learning a second language while young is so much easier than learning as an adult, when children are able to distinguish better between sounds and therefore, they are able to imitate and pronounce them more easily.”

For toddlers aged 12 months and over, the 100 Words Book – English-Chinese with Learning Activity Guide is available from Big W.

  • Getting to learn a second language at any age is a great thing, but especially at this young age when their brains are sponges soaking up as much information as they can.

  • We are Maori and I’m teaching my daughter however there is little to no books on Maori – English and vice versa. I’d love to educate her in more l wish I had learnt more languages

  • Family is of Italian background would be great for kids to learn a bit of a second language to communicate with the older relatives

  • Being able to speak a second language enables that person to see the world in two different views. To be able to experience life at a higher level through understanding of language is a precious gift.

  • so when they grow up they will be able to get a better job

  • I’d love for my very young niece and nephew to broaden their minds and absorb like sponges all that is great in learning a second language and down the track the different cultures as well.

  • I would live for our 8yo twins and 4yo speech delayed son to explore a second language with the amazing LeapFrog 100 Words Book. The plasticity of children’s’ minds make them perfect for learning multiple languages. Such a skill to have for their futures ❤️

  • The way the world is changing and expanding this is something i think all the children of the future will need!

  • Love my Grandchild to experience the culture and the diversity we have here in Australia – they will enjoy the experience.

  • Good for all aspects of learning

  • To open them up to the world but also so that the world’s languages aren’t lost to a very English speaking world only.

  • My parents are from Hong Kong and they speak Mandarin. I would love my son to be able to speak fluently in Chinese at his grandparents’. At my son’s old childcare, they have a Chinese LOTE teacher, but unfortunately we have to switch childcare, so he’s currently not practicing.

  • My excellent father always used to say to me, “Every language is a treasure. You should try to learn more than one.” And I’ve found this to be so true! I want to pass this same wisdom on to my children and grandchildren.

  • Learning a new language is amazing i wish i had when i was little because i now enjoy watching kdramas and listening to kpop and read the subtitles. if my child learns another language they would be able to watch and understand and talk to people they wouldn’t otherwise have.

  • Our grand-daughter is 4 and recently started doing some songs in sign language. She really enjoyed this. Her age is ideal for learning a new language and as we like to travel it would be great for me to learn a new language with her.
