WIN 1 of 25 copies of the novel Lenny’s Book of Everything by Karen Foxlee, thanks to Allen & Unwin.

Our mother had a dark heart feeling. Lenny’s younger brother has a rare form of gigantism and while Lenny’s fiercely protective, it isn’t always easy being the sister of ‘the giant’. A book about finding good in the bad that will break your heart while raising your spirits in the way that only a classic novel can.

Lenny, small and sharp, has a younger brother Davey who won’t stop growing – and at seven is as tall as a man. Raised by their mother, they have food and a roof over their heads, but not much else. The bright spot every week is the arrival of the latest issue of the Burrell’s Build-It-at-Home Encyclopedia. Through the encyclopedia, Lenny and Davey experience the wonders of the world – beetles, birds, quasars, quartz – and dream about a life of freedom and adventure. But as Davey’s health deteriorates, Lenny realises that some wonders can’t be named.A big-hearted novel about loving and letting go by an award-winning author.

  • My mum. A single parent who did it all alone, whilst working a full time job and giving me everything I wanted and needed.

  • Lassie as she conquered anything

  • I always looked up to my Nan. I thought she was an amazing lady. Living alone and running a small farm by herself after losing her husband to cancer. Pigs, sheep, chooks, geese, horses, cows etc. I still think she’s amazing and she still lives alone on the farm.

  • Anne of Green Gables, her character was an orphan who ended up living on a farm, she got into some trouble growing up but ended up doing very well for herself in the end being a school teacher.

  • My hero was my nan. She lived alone on a farm, milking cows and chopping wood. Looking after the grandkids in holiday times.

  • My favourite hero is superman. Doing the right thing to help others is important

  • Super Ted because he always saved the day and when your a kid that’s all that matters.

  • Princess Diana because she was beautiful inside and out, good-natured, forthright in her actions with other people regardless of personal differences.

  • My favourite childhood hero was Hermione Granger, she was smart and always used her wits and massive intelligence to get her and her friends out of trouble. It was really good for me to have a female role model who wasn’t just flashing her looks to get her way but was empowering for me and girls everywhere.

  • The Famous Five as I loved their adventures.

  • I would love this book! My mum was my superhero as a kid and even more so now I’m a mum. She raised myself, 4 sisters and Brother all on her own. Superwoman that’s for sure!

  • I’m a bookworm! I’d sit in the playground escaping into Enid Blyton books when I was six. My heroes were the Secret Seven! Mum collected copies from OP shops and I wanted to own a copy of every book she wrote but never managed it!

  • My Dad was my hero. He did everything a daughter could ask for xxoo

  • As I was a book nerd my favourites were Nancy Drew and I was always wondering what was going to happen next.

  • My Grandfather as he was always there and lots of fun, miss him always
