Police appeal for public assistance to help locate a heavily pregnant woman who vanished from a hospital on Monday.

Raquel Akers, 34, was a patient at the Royal Women’s Hospital’s antenatal ward but left the building about 3pm on Monday afternoon.

Police say there are grave concerns for the welfare of the unborn child, as well as the welfare of Ms Akers.

Ms Akers is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 160-165cm tall, with a slim build, blonde hair and is missing a number of teeth.

She may be heading to the Maitland area or interstate, with police asking the public to keep an eye out and to contact them immediately if she is sighted.

Anyone who sees her should contact Triple Zero. Anyone who knows her whereabouts should contact Crime Stoppers.
