Hello!

It’s been blessed relief having a break from the frenzied collections at the two supermarket giants. But it looks like the pause was short-lived as news has hit that the popular Stikeez collectables are making a return to Coles later this month.

The first version of Stikeez collectables was launched in February last year and came in the form of cute mini plastic fruit and veggies with tiny suction bases – designed in partnership with Healthy Kids Association in an effort to make healthy eating fun.

And now, mum-in-the-know Foodie Mumma Ren has shared on her social media page that Stikeez Part 2 is coming soon.

She revealed that she has “a very reliable contact high up in Coles” who has whispered the news in her ear.

Creatures Of The Deep

Last year, we reported that the Stikeez 2 collectables would have an under-the-sea theme.

Creatures of the Deep would feature figurines of a variety of sea creatures, such as whales, sharks, fish, squids and crabs, and some glow in the dark.

The Stikeez collectables campaign was helped Coles’ growth to rocket 2.4 per cent growth for the first quarter of last year so we can only presume they are keen to repeat this success.

Last year customers received one free Stikeez for every $30 spent in store or online. There were 24 minis to collect, with some being named after real-life Coles producers – such as Ava the Apple and Carlo the Cucumber. There were even rare Stikeez that fetched thousands of dollars on eBay.

Customers In A Tizz

However, not all shoppers are pleased with the prospect of the Stikeez collectables comeback.

One vexed consumer shared:
“Woolies it is then! Still finding the little choking hazards in odd places. Still trying to bin them!”

Another one voiced an environmental concern:
“I find these everywhere, I even found one down at the river. Bad news!!”

“No!No! I can’t afford these again. Bloody drives me crazy trying to fill all the sets,” said another disgruntled mum.

The new Stikeez are expected to return on 12 February and we suspect collector cases will also be available for around $4, together with a range of drink bottles, plush toys and a variety of other branded paraphernalia.

Coles has been coy about confirming the Stikeez collectables comeback but we’ve got a gut feeling that it’s green for go!

  • Maybe they will be more recycled materials this time round

  • Wow. And here I thought I’d catch a break

  • I cant believe they are doing this – more plastic to end up in waste. and to be honest I cant believe people collect them!

  • My son is 4 and his triggers are his tantrums and screaming fits. We forever tell him that’s what makes it worse… maybe one day he will listen and not have flair ups. We FINALLY found a cream that works but if we don’t remember to apply it it just comes back in force!

    • Hmmm that was supposed to be for the next article… not sure what went wrong there!

  • Whilst sea creatures are much better than food with faces (which would really turn me off eating them!), I really dislike the stickeez! I lost count of the number of times my youngest put them in his mouth! I don’t really find them as useful as the minis either. They can at least be used as barbie things or to teach kids.

  • Not our fav collectibles. Won’t go out of our way to get them.

  • I won’t be going out of my way to get them. Will probably collect a set though

  • I understand that these are cute and for kids they’re a novelty. Something special for them when they have to sit through a grocery shop. But people tend to go a little crazy. They’re just toys. They’ll be fun for abit and then end up thrown up away like most other junk.

  • my boys still play with the last lot, I will be getting them but we don’t go stupid and go on a mad frenzy trying to complete a set, they get what they are given. I hate all the ones complaining about them, say no if you don’t want them, it really isn’t that hard

  • Noooooooo

  • They’re cute enough, but I still wish they’d give away adult novels instead.

  • Lucky my kids are to young

    Reply

  • No, I won’t be collecting. I’m trying to get rid of what I don’t want, not add to the clutter.

    Reply

  • Oh no! Not these again

    Reply

  • I hope those complaining say no and not take them. I didn’t Take any with the last lot
