Hello!

We’ve all heard horror stories of the spread and fatality rate of Coronavirus but I personally don’t know anyone who has actually had COVID-19. This Coronavirus victim has gone public after she caught the virus and shares what it is really like to suffer from it. It’s quite eye-opening and different to what some ‘experts’ are telling us.

“I had COVID-19 and here is my story,” wrote Elizabeth Schneider on her personal Facebook page.

Elizabeth, a woman in her 30’s who lives in Seattle in the US explains how easy it was to catch the virus.

“I believe I caught it when attending a small house party at which no one was coughing, sneezing or otherwise displaying any symptoms of illness. It appears that 40% of the attendees of this party ended up sick,” she explained.

Washing hands Did Not Help!

“The media tells you to wash your hands and avoid anyone with symptoms. I did. There is no way to avoid catching this except avoiding all other humans. 40% of folks were all sick within 3 days of attending the party all with the same/similar symptoms including fever.”

What was interesting for me is that Elizabeth noted that symptoms seemed to “to be different depending on your constitution and/or age.”

Varying Symptoms

“Most of my friends who got it were in their late 40s to early 50s. I’m in my mid-30s. For us it was headache, fever (for first 3 days consistently and then on and off after 3 days), severe body aches and joint pain, and severe fatigue.”

Elizabeth said that her temperature spiked to a worryingly 39.5 degrees, before it eventually came down to 38 and then 37.5 degrees.

The symptoms varied quite considerably.
“Some folks had diarrhea. I felt nauseous one day. Once the fever is gone some were left with nasal congestion, sore throat”

Not Always A Cough

Experts have told us that a dry cough is a prominent symptom of Coronavirus. However, Elizabeth said that only a few of the group had a mild itchy cough and very few had chest tightness or other respiratory symptoms.

She said the illness lasted between 10 – 16 days and was not hospitalised. She didn’t even go to the doctor as she recovered on her own. She originally thought she had a nasty flu strain that wasn’t protected from this season’s flu vaccine.

Tested Positive For COVID-19

“The main issue is that without reporting a cough or trouble breathing many of us were refused testing,” Elizabeth shared.

“I got tested through the Seattle Flu Study. This is a RESEARCH study here in Seattle and they have been testing volunteers for strains of the flu to study transmission within the community. A few weeks ago, they started to test a random subset of samples for COVID-19 infection. They sent my sample to the King County Public Health Department for confirmation; however, I was told that all of the samples that have tested positive in the research study have been confirmed by Public Health.”

Disturbing

Elizabeth highlighted the most alarming issue.
She felt that the “lack of testing is leading to folks believing that they just have a cold or something else going out into public and spreading it. And worse folks with no symptoms are also spreading it as in the case of a person attending a party or social gathering who has no symptoms.”

Treatment

Elizabeth said that she believes that what has saved her from getting worse respiratory symptoms is the fact that she consistently took Sudafed, used nasal spray (3 sprays in each nostril, 3 days at a time and then 3 days off), and used a Neti pot (with purified water).

“This could have kept my sinuses clear and prevented the symptoms from spreading to my lungs.”

However, she added a disclaimer:
“This is not medical advice: I’m simply sharing what I did and correlating it with the fact that I had no respiratory symptoms. The two could be entirely unrelated based on the viral strain and viral load that I received.

Warning

Ultimately she warned that “hand washing doesn’t guarantee you won’t get sick, especially when folks without symptoms are contagious and could be standing right next to you in any given social situation. You more likely than not will not die, but do you want to risk spreading it to a loved one over 60 or someone with an immunity issue?”

Elizabeth’s post has gone viral (excuse the pun) with over 32,000 shares and 4300 comments, most of them thanking her for sharing her story.

  • I caught it a year ago and was very sick. I tahnkfully had great friends that dropped hot soup, etc at my door and picked up the antivirals for me.

  • With all the washing of hands in Australia the normal flu (not COVID) has had its lowest numbers so I think it works.

  • Washing your hands will help as many don’t wash them as often as they should, so I would keep that going. But I agree with her in everything else. Eventually we might get a herd immunity because I doubt we will get a vaccine anytime soon – the common cold is a coronavirus and no vaccine has ever been found to eradicate that!

  • Please wash your hands saying it didn’t help doesn’t mean it’s not important

  • Glad to read this article from someone who has experienced it first hand.
I honestly think we/the world still have a lot to find out about this virus, symptoms for each age and health , length of infection, post side affects of those that survive, I.e respiratory issues.
Alot of mixed Information in our nation and state to state.

  • this was a very good article. I guess my biggest concern is I don’t think I have been any where to get this virus but I have to go to an appointment today and I have a stuffy nose and a dry cough. When do you decide whether you should stay home

  • I think everyone would get some form of it and the fact that you can contract it without showing symptoms is the cause for concern. I’ll just avoid people who may be affected just in case I might have it without knowing. We are all in the community and you just don’t know.

  • Very interesting that symptoms displayed so differently. I think it’s disgusting that health professionals refused to test for the virus- they wonder why it’s spreading so bad!

  • With hand washing you are handling the same taps etc. People who undergo chemotherapy use hand sanitiser after handling anything else a another person may touch. They should wear gloves if they have no option but to handle shopping trolleys, doors anywhere. Masks are advisable out in public too.
If there was a Vaccine for Coronavirus it would be no more dangerous than the flu is according to a few Medical Professionals
