Hello!

One lucky McCouple has become the first Aussies to get married at McDonald’s as they tied the knot in the iconic fast food restaurant this weekend.

Chris King and Christine Cygan, who are both paramedics, got ‘McMarried’ on Sunday at the newly renovated McDonald’s in Warilla on the NSW South Coast, as reported in the Daily Mail.

McWedding Prize

The couple was the lucky winners of WAVE FM competition, where the ultimate award was a McWedding.

Only four couples all over the world have had a McDonald’s wedding, which makes Chris and Christine’s the fifth globally, but the first in Australia.

The winners, who hail from Dapto, NSW were announced on Monday, leaving them only one week to prepare for the big day.

‘I’ve always been a strong believer in Maccas,’ said Chris.

Three-Course McDonalds Meal

The wedding included a three-course meal and guests were given a choice of beef or chicken.

Christine went with the beef: ‘Can’t go past a Big Mac,’ said Christine.

The wedding package also included helping the bride find her perfect wedding dress, a wedding celebrant, flowers and a McDonald’s-inspired cake.

McWedding Cake

‘I had a vision of maybe a load of apple pies with tiers and sundaes on top of it,’ said Chris.

When it comes to vows, the couple will include the signature McDonalds slogan: ‘I’m lovin’ it’.

  • Hey each to their own and what really matters is that its a fun and loving day. Doesnt matter where.

  • I honestly think it’s so cool. Funnily enough I never knew it had ever been done before as I only said it to my daughter yesterday when we drove past Macdonalds coming home from work, I said “maybe I should do mine and my other half’s wedding at Macdonalds”. I want a unique wedding not the same stuff every single person does. They all do beach, barn, farm, parks or chapels etc I want to do completely different. It’s a wedding it’s suppose to be fun and a happy (machappy) day not a stressful years long planning where people end in so much debt they aren’t truly even happy any more. I say its so awesome love it and we’ll done to the couple. Xx Erin

  • It’s about what they wanted and how they did it – it certainly is unique!

  • I was relieved to read it was a competition prize. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to marry in Maccas unless it was for free

  • It would have to be a very unique wedding. As I’ve always said, to each their own. Not for me though I do like McDonald’s burgers.

  • LOL so tacky, but each to their own!

  • Um, no thanks. McDonald’s is somewhere I visit every now and then, but never for a wedding!

  • This is actually pretty cool! What a cool way to have a wedding.

  • Affording a wedding reception can be a huge burden even if you hire a small hall and do a lot of the “work” yourself. Many people aren’t aware of the fact that if you buy the liquor yourself and serve it in a hired hall you still need a liquor license. Not a commercial one but I don’t know how much you have to pay for it. Some people are now doing small backyard receptions and using a caterer for a bbq etc.

  • Thats a hard pass from me. It’s one thing to swing through drive through on your wedding day but another thing entirely to get married in one. But if it floats their boat, more power to them!

  • Haha this is just feral. I’m all for a budget wedding but this is just trashy.

  • I’m not a marriage person at all, but a McDonalds one would never have been on my radar…..

  • No, I wouldn’t love to have a McWedding, not even when you would have paid me a $1000 ! Each to their own.
