Dads surprising reaction after he spotted a huge spider crawling across his sleeping son’s pillow.

Scotty Allen shared the photo in the Perth – Have A Whinge Facebook group, but seemed pleased, rather than concerned by the find, posted Daily Mail.

Mr Allen rationalised his relaxed response by saying: ‘No need to worry about nasty bugs bothering my kids with this big girl watching over them.’

Comments on the post identified the offender as a huntsman – a pretty low-risk, non-aggressive spider.

Experts agree that huntsman spiders are nothing to be afraid of and can provide pest-control, as they eat smaller pesky insects.

According to the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife, the arachnids are harmless to humans and very useful in controlling mosquito and cockroach numbers.

Ewww not for me!

  • Oh yuck! Cringe worthy, hair standing on end moment. I would have grabbed the baby out and burnt the bed. Lol

  • Glad dad found it and not this kid. Omg it would be so scary walking up to it

  • Typical dad comment. My husband would probably do the same.

  • Sorry that thing would have been squished quicker than you could say “it won’t hurt you !”

  • Oh……my…….god!!!! Instinct would’ve kicked in for me. I would’ve pulled my baby out of bed, put them somewhere safe. Strip the bedding and hit it hard with fly spray, then wash in hit water. Dangerous or not, they freak the bejesus out of me

  • Wow hats a pretty big spider. Certainly large enough to scare an adult let alone a child.

  • Although we have had a huntsman as a pet in our house and even fed it when there were few bugs, daddy-long-leg spiders about as he’d already eaten them, I doubt I’d like to see it in a baby’s cot. Our huntsman kept to the ceilings and apart from being a bit of a perv [often was found in the bathroom where he could watch people showering] he never cam down very low.

  • Although I don’t mind huntsman spiders in the house as they do keep the cockroaches at bay. Hate cockroaches more, I don’t think I would like them anywhere near my sleeping child.

  • omg I couldn’t leave my child in there with it. No way.

  • What guarantee is there that if the child moves and disturbs the spider it won’t inflict a nasty bite.
The child may even have a severe allergic reaction.

  • Time for the spider to be relocated to a more suitable home.

  • Major pass from me.

  • They can actually bite and that bite can be quite painful .

I think I would prefer to keep the little insects than have this sleep with me!
