Hello!

It’s the end of the road for Caramilk! (**uncontrollably cries**).

This Cadbury chocolate block has attracted quite the cult following with fans all over the world rushing to sign petitions for the return of this creamy treat.

But in a distinctly sour blow for Caramilk fans, Cadbury has officially announced that this chocolate will no longer be made.

In a response to the hundreds of facebook messages demanding the return of Caramilk, the chocolate company eventually responded:

“Cadbury Caramilk is a special edition and we are no longer making it. Stores have taken delivery of the remaining stock, so we expect it will start appearing on shelves now. We recommend you try the Supermarket Advisory lines as they will be able to tell you if the product is available in your area.”

“The entire run of Caramilk was made in Dunedin (New Zealand) – even the product for Australia. Stores in Australia have taken the delivery of the remaining stock, and will be available until stock lasts.”

This move has ignited the fury of chocolate lovers the world over.

As reported in the Herald Sun, Comedian Christian Hull started the change.org petition, saying: “Cadbury brought out the most delicious chocolate of all time ‘Caramilk’. It has been so successful and yet Cadbury will stop producing it. How Dare They!”.

The disgruntled chocoholics commented on the petition said they were experiencing “withdrawals” and urged the chocolate company to restock supermarket shelves immediately.

Dee Schefe said: “It’s outrageous to deny our taste buds of this delicious chocolate! Come on Cadbury … we need this!”

Recall

This news follows the nationwide recall of Caramilk after “small flexible pieces of food grade plastic” were found in the product due to a “machinery fault”.

In a statement, a Mondelez International spokesperson said Caramilk was never intended to be a permanent part of its range, but “never say never”.

“While there are no current plans in place to make Cadbury Caramilk, we have been overwhelmed by our consumers’ response to the product and as one of the world’s largest snacking companies, we are in the business of bringing our consumers more products they love,” it said.

Where You Can Get Your Caramilk Fix

If you’re desperate to get your hands on the last remaining bars of Caramilk, you could try joining the Caramilk Hunters Group or grab a block or 10 from eBay (they’re currently selling for around $15 a block).

  • I tried it and I loved it! Honestly, I found it tasted so different to any of the other flavours. I am hoping they bring it back. But I have always loved caramel so I knew I would like it.

  • Haven’t tried it – is it worth it? Before it’s gone forever?!

  • Oh well, I tried one block and it was okay. It was nice. I didn’t feel the need to rush out and buy it again though. I’ll stick with the original Milk Chocolate or Top Deck.
