Hello!

Have you ever had that feeling when you get to the end of a busy day and flop into bed and think to yourself “I have not stopped all day long, but I feel like I got nothing done”!

I know I have on many occasions. During this time in my life I would feel like I was constantly going and going all day but not really get anything completed. Therefore I was left to feel very frustrated and overwhelmed with everything I then had to do the following day.

Enough was enough as I felt like I was on a never ending spinning wheel of work and never feeling satisfied with what I had achieved.

Something had to change and I went on a quest to see where I was really spending my time.

You will be surprised at how much time we waste every day, between social media, emails, phone calls, television and computer games. My vice was Facebook and emails. I would check my Facebook page at least 10 times a day (it sounds crazy when I write it down, but it was TRUE).

Even though I tried to deny it, I could not deny it as the facts of my time audit were telling me this! Every morning when I would think about what I was going to do that day, checking my Facebook was never in the equation, yet it was the thing that I did most of every single day – on my phone, computer and ipad!

I would “quickly” check my Facebook before I sat down at the computer to do any sort of work and before I knew it 10-15 minutes would pass and I had not started any of my work yet! That comes to almost a total of 2.5 hours a day in checking my Facebook!

Just think, how much time do you waste on distractions? Like me you may actually be surprised and a little embarrassed at the results.

Another important point to make about discovering your hidden time is to understand how emotions affect our lives and our time management.

Our emotions rule our lives, either in a negative or positive way. How we are feeling on any day will result in what we do, how we do it and how effective we are at doing it.

Think about it, if you were feeling unfulfilled with your life and what was happening around you then you would deal with life in two ways, either you would be putting in a lack luster effort to your daily activities without much completion or enthusiasm to them.

Or to over compensate for this feeling you would be putting in a huge effort to get things done around you so you can take some of those fulfillments on the outside and turn them into a feeling of fulfilled within (which is looking for outside fixes to your internal issues, and not looking at the root cause for the feeling in the first place!).

How we feel on the inside always reflects in what we do, how we react and how we interact with people in our lives.

How can you manage your time better and let go of some of those distractions that cause you to lose valuable time during the day? How do youor emotions affect your time management and sense of fulfillment each and everyday?

  • I know I waste way to much time on social media. Time that is really better spent elsewhere.

  • I give myself a list of things that I want to do each day, and if it’s something that I’ve been putting off or avoiding, I “reward” myself for doing it by allowing myself 10 or 15 minutes on social media. And I use a timer, so I don’t go over. Sometimes you really have to be strict with yourself, because if you aren’t, the day is over and you really haven’t got much done.

  • One of my favourite sayings is “Wasting time is an important part of living”…sometimes when you think you’ve wasted time has actually been spent being productive, you just don’t realise it.

  • im giggling as I read this blog on time …prior to becoming a mother I never even had the need for a watch I would get up and renovate at midnight have brunch instead of breakfast and now with a 9 month old daughter everything is controlled by time, breakfast, lunch , tea, bottles the laundry is done when bubs is asleep even the shopping has its own time frame in my day and yes in my down time when I am mostly exhausted I to am a facebook queen …honestly though I wouldn’t change a thing …time is the now and its worth living in every moment
