Since the birth of her second child in September, Alyssa Milano has shared two photos of her breastfeeding bub Elizabella Dylan on Instagram.

While the 41-year-old received a certain amount of support for being so open about breastfeeding, many thought it was inappropriate of the star to share such intimate photos on social media.

So understandably, after the release of Kim Kardashian’s nude Paper Magazine cover, the star was confused as to why people were offended by her breastfeeding photos, but not by Kim’s attempt to ‘break the internet’.

Taking to Twitter last Wednesday, the former Charmed actress posted:

While Alyssa was surprised by the different reception she and Kim’s photos received, she did praise the 34-year-old reality star, tweeting:

Milano’s tweets inspired a movement of breastfeeding selfies, with many mum’s posting their own photos on social media sites. Milano has showed her support for the movement by re-tweeting some of her follower’s pictures.

So what do you think? Do you think Alyssa Milano’s breastfeeding pic was more offensive or controversial than Kim Kardashian’s magazine cover? Or do you understand Alyssa’s confusion at the different responses?

  • Breastfeeding is natural and her pic isn’t indecent. I see it as a great way of encouraging women to breastfeed.

  • I am with Alyssa, I don’t get it either. A mother breastfeeding is the most beautiful & natural thing there is I do not understand how it affends people. We see photos & movies of naked people all the time when you breastfeed you see nothing but a baby.

  • At least Alyssa was natural and classy. Shame the same can be said for Kim

  • Touche mama – totally agree with her point

  • They are both personal but a Bub breastfeeding is definitely not offensive like flashing someone’s backside is.

  • Personally I would much rather see a photo of Alyssa Milano breast feeding than Kim Kardashians behind.

  • Breast feeding is the natural way to feed a baby, I really can’t understand why it is offensive. If you don’t feed because you’re in public your baby will start screaming because it is hungry, then you get abused for disturbing other people. Lighten up.

  • Was out having coffee and saw a sticker on a café window; breastfeeding welcome here! hooray! Bought another coffee! Well done!

    • I love the cafe’s with signs like that!! Even before children/breastfeeding, a welcome like that to breastfeeding mothers made me more likely to shop/dine there.

  • I will never ever understand why people get so mad about breastfeeding/birth photos. Its quite simply one of the most natural things on this earth. I also dont really have a problem with Kims photos, they are a bit trashy, but I am not going to judge.

  • I really prefer the breastfeeding selfies – at least they’ve got a point! (Beyond just showing off.)

  • I just don’t understand any of this

  • Totally understand the confusion! No idea why people don’t like seeing breastfeeding pics!

  • I would rather see the feeding photo as that is part off live, showing you bits off on the net just to try and break it sounds like money making stuff to me
