The Gold Coast is known for fun in the sun and has so many opportunities for tourism and camping. You will be happy to know that a holiday to the Gold Coast doesn’t have to be expensive!

There are many Gold Coast camping sites that don’t require a fee to explore amazing parts of the coastline.

Take a look at these wonderful family holiday destinations and find out which main beach caravan park is perfect for your holiday with the kids:

1. Southport Tourist Park

At 39 Huth Street, on the north end of the Gold Coast, is a free camping location for families on the road. Located at close proximity to the harbour and Sea World, this camping location is guaranteed to provide many opportunities for families for tourism and exploration. This is a great location to get the family acquainted with both the beach life of the Gold Coast but also the city life in the nearby communities.

You will be pleased to know that Southport Tourist Park also has many options for watersports.

Not only is Southport Tourist Park free but is also close to boat ramps. Located on Watersports Lane, the Southport Tourist Park is a great way to travel with family, explore a new area, and to do it all successfully while on a budget. As the name applies, this location is also great for promoting various water sports. Whether you prefer to swim, snorkel, or surf, the Gold Coast readily offers these opportunities.

2. Colin’s Street

Another free location for camping on the north side of the Gold Coast is Colin’s Street, specifically 49 Broadwater Street. Located near Angler’s Paradise, this site is another location to bring the family while trying to maintain a tight budget. It’s urban enough to provide shopping options while being close enough to the coast for optimum tourism. This is key, because it means a chance to partake in fishing while also eating in Gold Coast’s finest dining establishments.

3. Start Point

Located at 6 Tupia Avenue, the Start Point free campsite is located at the south end of the Gold Coast. Just north of Ukerebaugh Island, Start Point is a convenient location for families to set up camp. This location is not only good for camping, but it is within close proximity of a boat ramp near Philip Street – ideal for launching family boats on the Australian coastline.

4. Boat Ramp near Philip Street

The boat ramp near Philip Street, located on the south end of the Gold Coast, is near Start Point. It permits free camping and also offers the boat ramp as an idea boat launch into local waters. This campsite is located in close proximity to many other rest areas in the region, all of which are designed to engage families in camping activities and the environment.

These four free camping sites are just a few examples of what the Gold Coast has to offer in terms of free camping. Take advantage of this opportunity and introduce your kids to camping on Australia’s coastline today!

  • These are a wonderful idea. Being free gives drivers no excuse to keep driving to find affordable camping areas. Presuming toilets and showers are available I’m surprised there isn’t a very low fee per day to cover costs, even if it was only a gold coin per vehicle.
