Just a mere two short weeks after having her first baby, Serena Williams has shared a snap of her post baby body.

Baby, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr, was only born on the 1st of September, so the 35 year old tennis star could certainly be forgiven for not worrying about a little bump, yet the new mum has proudly flaunted her post baby body on Snapchat!

Pictured standing in front of a mirror in her denim cut off shorts, a black bodysuit and white knit top.

“Back in my jean shorts 2 weeks …” she captioned the selfie.

WOAH! I know she has always been pretty fit and I also know it does fall back to an individuals own body shape and fitness etc, but is this putting pressure on other new mums to bounce back quick?

While some fans point out she is an athlete after all and it is quite normal PLUS she should have a right to feel proud of her achievement so far, others don’t agree…

One comment pointed out, “I feel bad for any professional athlete/Hollywood actress who feels they have to “bounce” back right away. Give them a chance to recover, a chance to bond with their baby. The pressure put on women to get back to “pre-baby” form is ridiculous!!!”

Another said “What’s up with some women who can’t wait to give birth in order to lose baby fat…what’s this obsession with our bodies? Nothing lasts forever!”

“For goodness sack when are these women going to realise it’s not a competition.”

Earlier this year Pink had something to say about the crazy expectations mums face about losing the baby weight – She shared that she is proud to be a “normal” mum and that she hasn’t rushed back into weightloss before the six week mark post baby Jameson.

Actress Anne Hathaway also reminded mums “There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all).”

A couple of months back people were outraged over a Sunrise hosts offensive remarks about Amal Clooney’s post-baby body.

Sunrise co-hosts, Samantha Armytage, joked about Amal’s weight loss just hours after the birth of her twins. Poor taste!

One fed up mum shared an image showing “This is a normal postpartum body”.

She explained that ‘We give up our bodies to create our children, our bodies change and gain perfect imperfections that we should be celebrating, not shaming.’

Saying, ‘We see pictures of fitness models snapping back from a pregnancy. But how many of us are fitness models?

‘It makes women think our bodies are not okay or not normal when they are.”

Do you think women feel shame when they see new mums like Serena bounce back so fast?

  • I’m not sure it’s actually an achievement…

  • Surely there’s some Spanx involved here!..lol

  • for all we know that could be a spanx body suit – don’t those things smooth and slim you down?

I personally don’t care how quickly or slowly a celebrity gets back to pre-baby form – most of them can afford a whole range of people to feed them right, watch over the baby, train them etc etc – for the average mum like us non-celebrities these are just plain unobtainable in reality

I think as long as mum and baby are healthy and bonding – whatever happens to your baby weight is yours to decide and deal with and every mum should be respectful of themselves

Motherhood shouldn’t feel like a competition because in the end we are all doing the same amazing job – raising children!

  • it helps when you don’t put that much weight on in the first place and when it is just actual baby weight. Good on her though. There is nothing wrong with putting on weight or not, just as long as the baby is healthy and we should all relax and not try to hold ourselves to high expectations after having a child. i personally was too tired to worry about fitting into my jeans again lol

  • Her body was capable of winning the aus open while ten weeks pregnant. Its not even close to surprising her body bounced back quickly. She’s never been small and never will be. She has her belly covered so god only knows what state its really in under all that. Just let her enjoy her baby.

  • No, I don’t feel woman do or should feel shame – all women are different and being happy with their own body/shape is all that matters!

  • I never felt any shame about my body after having my babies. Every woman is different and every woman needs to feel confidant in their own body. Some lose their baby weight and some don’t lose their baby weight – we are individual. I imagine someone that has been athletic all of their life would need to exercise and be fit and the bonus is the release of feel good endorphins.

  • Personally I really don’t care if she is back to her pre baby body or not.
Her body her business …every one is different.

  • I too went straight back to my pre-baby weight just after my daughter was born. We are all different and should not compare ourselves to others.
