Man dubbed ‘dad of the year’ after sawing his son’s PlayStation in half because it turned him into a ‘k***head’.

Simon Shaw, from Saddleworth, Greater Manchester, gave the thumbs up as he was filmed firing up a cut saw.

The father-of-two grinned as he took the noisy power tool and sliced the games console in half as sparks flew.

Mr Shaw then held up the broken pieces of the PlayStation to the camera before he threw them on the ground and gave the middle finger.

In the video he said: ‘This is my TS410 and this is my son’s PlayStation which I’ve just been and got out of his ****ing room, because that has turned him into a complete f***ing k***head and I’ve had enough.’

After posting the video on Facebook many people dubbed him “dad of the year”.

Other people criticised the dads decision and said he could have donated to charity instead of destroying such an expensive item.

  • When you are exasperated enough then this is what you do. If you ‘donate’ it then it’s possible to get it back, this way you can’t use it again.

  • I’m in the “could have donated it to a hospital kids ward” camp. Maybe his kid turned into a douche because his dad is one?

  • That’s a reaction! I wonder what happen afterwards.

  • While I think it’s ok for parents to set boundaries and live them out, I don’t think it’s a great example to destroy each other properties (in this case your child’s gaming console) with a saw. This act it it’s own shows great anger and disrespect.

  • Sounds as bad as his son! However kudos to him for stopping the gamer culture in his household.

  • I would have sold or donated it rather than destroying it but if you’ve tried everything else it has to go.

  • I don’t even want to watch the video footage. What lesson does this teach?

  • You can understand why because they are so addictive but l think his reaction was a bit much!

  • I think many people have felt like that – but there are better solutions.

    • Acts of anger and destruction do not teach! They just destroy relationships and trust.

  • In my idea he could have handled the all thing better. Didn’t he put any rule on how much time his son spent on the Playstation? That would have been much more effecting that destroying the Playstation. And I think this didn’t help their relationship either. :-(

  • I think its a bit of an over the top reaction. Maybe they should have been monitoring and restricting the child’s use if it was that much of an issue. Also I feel it should have been given away to a family who maybe couldn’t afford one or a charity shop, not just destroyed. But then again, that wouldn’t have got the 5 seconds of fame this dad obviously wants!
