The High Court has reinstated wife-killer Gerard-Baden-Clay’s murder conviction.

The five-judge High Court bench handed down its decision to reinstate the murder conviction over the death of his wife Allison in 2012, in the final ruling on the case, reports 9 NEWS.

The Crown had argued that Baden-Clay’s behaviour following the death of his wife was “not only calculated but cold blooded”.

The decision overrules a controversial ruling made by the Queensland Court of Appeal last year that downgraded the charges to manslaughter, reports news.com.au.

Ms Baden-Clay’s friend Kerry-Anne Walker paid tribute to her in a statement she read after the decision was handed down.

She said today “was a good day for the good guys”.

“Gerard Baden-Clay murdered his amazing wife Allison,” Ms Walker said outside court.

“The evidence in his original trial displayed his intent as well as his character.

“Today’s decision brings to an end Gerard’s attempts to smear Allison’s name.

“If some are in doubt as to his true nature, his behaviour after Allison’s disapperance and during the trial must have removed this doubt.

“Four and a half years ago, three beautiful girsl went to bed with a mother and the next morning they woke without one.

“He let them and the whole community worry and anguish for days about what had happened.”

The disappearance of Allison Baden-Clay in 2012 alarmed many Brisbane residents.

Public interest in the case developed further after her body was found on a creek bank 10 days after her husband Gerard reported her missing.

In June 2012, Gerard Baden-Clay appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court charged with murder, about two months after first reporting his wife missing.

  • I hope he is locked away and the time he has spent in gaol so far is not taken into account. His daughters and other family members who are ones having to live and cope with this ghastly experience. Lots of counselling would have been needed and possibly ongoing. All contact should be blocked and any mail in or out should be confiscated as he may be using other people and names to bypass suspicion. No TV, radio or comforts for him.

  • It will be great once all these appeals are over and her children can perhaps find peace.

  • thank goodness the right decision was made here and there is some sort of justice for her family children and friends, and god knows we dont want the likes of him out and about any earlier than it has to be.

  • Oh phew, thank goodness. Hopefully this will be the end of it and Allisons family can get closure and get on with living. Such an evil, egotistical man. That poor woman. And the children, they lose mum and dad, how sad

    • Hope this man gets what he deserves.
And yes, the kids are the dupe. Very sad indeed, bless them !
